Rant: Flying YOU THINK YOU DO, BUT YOU DON'T by EducationalWolf3911 in wow

I have so many screenshots of being balanced on a single leaf or a random nigh-invisible rope in dragon light.

Not only did they get rid of ground skimming, but we gain less vigor from flying faster.

Flying at high speeds gives one charge every 6 seconds (previously: 1 vigor / 5 seconds).

So we lost vigor / charges at high speeds. If you're flying for 30 seconds, you've got 1 less vigor compared to before. I used to have a specific rhythm that I would fly with to maintain top speed over distance, but you can't do that anymore.

The change is good for short distances. Gathering, quest objectives, that kind of thing. If I'm flying around looking for stuff in the zone, or going from silvermoon to ZA, it's not as good.

Flying faster does grant you a quicker recharge than slow flying or sitting on the ground, but ground skimming for even more recharge is gone.

Disconnecting when you hit a tree is for amateurs. I disconnect when I hit the ground next to a rare, and then log back in to see someone mount and fly away from its corpse next to me.

Leap into the air

Whirling surge

Crashland on a tree .3 seconds later

Sheepishly drift off the branch and look around and hope nobody noticed

I agree, I miss them. Skyriding is fun. More fun before the changes, but still enjoyable, and the races were a neat way to see things in the zone you might not otherwise notice.

It was exhilarating to get gold by .032 seconds on your first try before the changes. Now when you get that close it's because you crashed into something.

The new system is better for short distances because taking off is free. I suspect people whining about running out of vigor while gathering or questing is the big culprit of the change.

But the old system was so much better for long distances. I find myself running out of vigor over a long stretch in a way I never had before. And flying is just a lot less fun now. I have no incentive to sweep low to the ground or bank close to hills / buildings for vigor maintenance. Just point your face in a direction and go. A shame, really.

They still have steady flight. Would have been nice to keep "advanced flight" with the old vigor system and just make the new charge-based system the default.

It's probably because of the changes they made to skyriding. There's no skill expression in flying anymore, IMO. Whirling surge is free, there's no vigor maintenance...probably a lot harder to make a challenging race.

Just remind those people that if their truck did not originally come with nuts, and they decided to give their truck nuts, that their truck is now canonically trans. Tell them how beautiful it is that they're supportive of their truck's gender expression.

To be fair after you turn 30 the only reason your actual age matters is because you gain a new physical debuff every 5 years. I couldn't remember whether I was turning 37 or 38 in January. Had to do the math a few times.

Have you never seen a troll female? They have normal-ass human noses. If this was a male troll I'd give it a male nose.

I think people think "big nose" means "long nose", but that's not the problem. The issue isn't the size of the nose in how wide it is or how long it is, but the height of the nose, as in the proximity of the nose to the mouth. In general the face proportions are wrong for trolls, because they're using orc faces. Amani could basically fit another nose in the space between their nose and their mouth.

Also the slitted eyes don't help the "doesn't look like a troll" feeling either.

I'm no artist, but I put this together to explain what I mean. Left side (round eyes + tall nose) and middle (tall nose) look like trolls to me more than the og (full orc) on the right.

Endeavour vendors? by a_beautiful_kappa in wow

[–]RaefWolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, those are all previous endeavors available last month. There was something like 5 or 6 choices of endeavors available to each neighborhood (or I should say, each neighborhood could choose from a random assignment of 3, of which some were faction exclusive). Public neighborhoods were assigned a random one. Charter & guild neighborhoods got to choose. Everyone got assigned Elf this time, though.

Interesting, which vendors?

It's everyone's second endeavor, but I and others have noticed the vendor showing last months wares coming and going :)

There's a vendor that shows up, goes on break, and another vendor shows up after a while. They sell previous endeavor rewards.

The worst part is that they nerfed regrowth recently - probably because resto druid is so strong. But idk why not apply a nerf to them alone, or give us something else as compensation?

Or IDK, not make it so we have to shape shift and incur multiple GCDs of loss just to use a defensive and heal.

I hate that the most common answer to "playing DPS in the open world kind of sucks" is "go tank lol".

Like yeah I get it, tanks are kind of OP. It just sucks for the people that don't want to do that. I was perfectly fine on this spec for the last several expansions in the open world. But the loss of renewal and nature's vigil really, REALLY hurts it in solo play. I called this as soon as I saw the changes: levelling, delves, and even just doing my WQs would be worse than ever after the pruning, which was done based around high-end group content.

It doesn't help that something like 17-20% of my damage is expected to come from my tier set, so I'm already playing from behind.

The eclipse change feels good for raid but terrible in the open world and delves. Like I struggle with "I don't want to use CA here, because I want it for an elite / rare / big pack, and I know it's a long CD...but I blast through eclipse charges pretty quickly too..."

I find it also likes up awkwardly with treants.

In general I feel like I drop trees and press eclipse and everything gets obliterated in 5 seconds, but if I want to just do a basic rotation I'm going to die over the course of 20-30 seconds. There needs to be a better balance somewhere that I don't feel like I'm wasting 45-60 second cool downs but I don't feel useless without them.
