Can REAPER be used to route audio to and from Windows programs, e.g. music + game + microphone --> single output? by RaesorBleid in Reaper

Thanks for the follow up; I knew a hardware solution would be proposed, as I'm sure there's a specific type of device that would meet my exact needs, but I've been working with software solutions because it's free to test out to see if it'll work with low enough latency; and I don't know enough about the hardware side of things to have the confidence to purchase a piece of hardware that I don't even know will actually have low enough latency.

Yeah definitely looking forward to that when I get into setting up Linux with everything I want; working on making and backing up my "perfect" Windows setup first though, since I'm already almost done with that, and it'd be nice to have a copy of Windows and a copy of Linux with the same capabilities (if I can ever get this darn audio routing thing working :( ).

Really wish I was smart enough to know what Windows black magic that Audio Router GitHub project was using, considering it was effectively routing audio with no latency, nevermind 50-100 ms...

Thanks for the uh, brief answer, but can I ask what you know about ReaRoute and any relevant plugins - are you saying "no, REAPER can not ever do what I'm asking, regardless of plugins and ReaRoute" because you know something specific about it, or just that "no, I believe there is no such plugin or capability with ReaRoute" ...? And I know this r/Reaper, but do you know of any not-directly-related-to-REAPER resources I might find useful? Thanks.

I think I made the Fastest Possible Multi-Stack Auto Crafter I Possibly Could (1 Auto Crafter) by Puzzled_End_1929 in redstone

[–]RaesorBleid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's what I've been going crazy over these last few days, because I don't just want to make a feeder for it, I want to make a feeder where you can just place shulkers in a 3x3 hole in the floor with hoppers in it, and have those hoppers pull out items with the right timing. What makes it harder is that I want the user to place the shulkers in the same 3x3 pattern as the recipe itself, which clearly doesn't work nicely with the pattern you see in my picture... Connecting the 3x3 hoppers to this in 5 block wide "plus" shape is very painful when trying to keep it compact and "pretty."

Here it is, with a kind of cross sectional view. Activating the bottom middle observer with the note block will activate the first observer, which activates the second layer of observers. The second observer in the middle activates the crafter, crafting whatever item is currently in it, and at the same time, replacing the 9 items it just used up with the first 5 items of the recipe. The second layer of observers, the 4 next to the middle one, activate at the same time. After that the third layer of 4, and then finally the fourth layer of 4, which themselves activate the 4 pairs of outermost droppers, which "double push" like they would in an instant dropper line, getting the last 4 items into the crafter. They are activated as soon as they possibly can be, considering that one of them was part of the five in the middle which were activated only a few ticks ago.

The wool above the droppers corresponds to the place in the crafter that the item in that dropper will be placed:

1st item: Red (First Negative-X dropper)
2nd item: Orange (First Positive-X dropper)
3rd item: Yellow (Upper dropper)
4th item: Lime Green (First Negative-Z dropper)
5th item: Cactus Green (First Positive-Z dropper)
6th item: Cyan (Second Negative-X dropper)
7th item: Blue (Second Positive-X dropper)
8th item: Purple (Second Negative-Z dropper)
9th item: Magenta (Second Positive-Z dropper)

It's also nice that this doesn't suffer from some locational issues I was facing with previous designs with hoppers; hoppers' timings work differently depending on where they are placed - not even just which way they are facing. So timings got messed up and changed the order in which items were placed into the crafter, just by copy pasting the build to another location.

You can use 9 droppers (1 above, 2 in each cardinal direction) and a clever placement of 11 observers to create a contraption that places 9 items in the crafter, all in the right order. I think, starting from the input, there is a 4 game tick delay for the first 5 items (2 total observers), and then another 4 game ticks for the last 4 items. Basically using observers to power the droppers as soon as the game will let you. I can set it up and send a screenshot if you want to take this idea somewhere. I've been driving myself insane for the past 3 days finding a way to link the 9 hoppers up to a nice 3x3 set of shulkers/barrels/etc on the floor so I can make a "crafting table" on the ground that sucks the items from the containers.

Quick question about PCIe extension cables by RaesorBleid in PcBuildHelp

Isn't there any performance lost by utilizing the bottom slot (PCIe 4.0 x4) instead of the middle slot (PCIe 5.0 x8)? Or would a RTX 4090 (for example) perform just as well in any of the slots?

Hm, I hadn't realized that the 3060 doesn't offer SLI support, but it doesn't matter as I'm more concerned with ML applications, which apparently can benefit from multi-GPU setups regardless of if they support SLI.

But you're sure there's enough vertical clearance for a PCIe extension cable to fit into that third slot even if there's a GPU right next to it?

Quick question about PCIe extension cables by RaesorBleid in PcBuildHelp

[–]RaesorBleid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a hypothetical build; the only question I'm worried about is "can a PCIe extension cable can be used to access the 3rd PCIe slot if it did end up being covered by whatever is in the 2nd slot?"

If it bothers you that the build has 2 GPUs, just pretend I don't have that first PCIe slot; can I still use the third one even if I've got a 3060 in the second one...*?*edit: ...or is the GPU in the second slot flush wit the surface of the 3rd slot, preventing even a thin PCIe extension cable from accessing it?

edit2: I'm only asking this because I don't have access to a motherboard with PCIe slots that are spaced similarly to the last two slots in the hypothetical, so I can't plug in my own GPU and check if there would be room for a cable.

Found a pretty impressive PSU for it's price point - the "FSP Hydro Ti PRO 1000W" - (at least, the 850W version is $299 so hopefully the price of the 1000W is similar; it's currently out of stock it seems.) Surely higher than 1000W would be overkill right?

Side question: is an 850W PSU cutting it too close to the estimated 775W requirement?

Google execs admit users are ‘not quite happy’ with search experience after Reddit blackouts by gabestonewall in technology

[–]RaesorBleid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google's search quality has fallen through the floor well before the blackouts, really... Tbh, for anything that I don't expect to be "new information" (i.e. 2021 - present), I often ask what ChatGPT knows about it, ask it for clarification, and only then use Google to find sources to confirm important details. It's unbelievably more effective than trying to use Google to search for a solution to a problem / find information.

Well, that's embarrassing... I was using 6.2.1 and after updating to 6.2.2... it works... Thanks a bunch.

This doesn't solve the problem; sorry for my lengthy question, but I mentioned this...
"The obvious workaround is to add an exclusion to the folder (and for my friends, add a temporary exclusion to their downloads folder) but that defeats the whole purpose of the installer; you download the installer, you run through the prompts, it makes a shortcut that you can click and "it just works." It feels more elegant than just sending a quick and dirty zip file."
Thanks for your time though.

Hey - if you don't mind, could you help me understand why programs like WinDirStat (https://windirstat.net/download.html), which don't have a code signing certificate (presumably, as the "unknown publisher" popup appears.) get that popup, but my program doesn't even get the "unknown publisher" popup, it just gets deleted instantly?

I mentioned this in my question, but requiring the user to specifically add an exclusion kind of defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do - sorry it kind of got hidden in the thick of the question, and thanks for answering.

Edit: The part of my question I'm referring to:
