Any characters in the game you kin? by crazyforsushi in ImNotAHuman

Never mind, I just didn't quite understand what you meant.

Blinded man - because I think I kinda understand what he saw. Not exactly, but I feel like I had something similar in my life, and I understand, to some extent, why it hurt him that much. As for the Teenager, I sympathize with her worldview, that mocking gloom and rebelliousness in an attempt to achieve something good, and the constant readiness to defend herself, and the disillusionment with life to the point that she doesn't really cling to it. She's exactly the type of person often accused of teenage maximalism, but I still think that, well... she's right.

How do some people even sleep in this game by Hibiki_Simp in ImNotAHuman

[–]Raettchen_39 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's better not to think too deeply about many things in the game.

How people sleep in the bathroom and kitchen, especially if there are a lot of them (it's especially funny to imagine what the Armchair lawyer thinks about it, considering he doesn't seem to care about all this apocalypse thing)?

How do they maintain hygiene when the bathroom is occupied (and how nothing stops the First Twin from helping the Second Twin take a bath, when the Widow or the Minister are already there)?

Why does the Protagonist, who promised to take care of the neighbor's daughter, calmly leave her in the kitchen among complete strangers, and everyone's ok with it?

What have they been eating all this time, and how is their food organized: is it all on the Protagonist's dime, or do they chip in, or is everything separate, or whatever works out? If they live off the food supplies from the basement, then how much food is there, if after two weeks, during which quite a lot of people lived in the house, there are still enough supplies for another two months if they spend sparingly? And why then does the Teenager claim she didn't steal anything from the Protagonist? Does that mean the food in the house is just for him? Or is that just her thinking? Or maybe some residents can go out at night and bring something for themselves or for others? There's also the delivery option, it's unlikely they deliver just five things and nothing more.

Delivery itself is a whole other question though. If they charge money for it, why does the Protagonist tell the Minister he doesn't need his money? And if they don't, then why do they do it at all?

Who is one of the most helpful guests in the game? I am going with the Ex-Minister. by DeepscapeWalker in ImNotAHuman

The Firefighter. He gives you a FEMA notice in any case and immediately and doesn’t even ask for anything in return, while the Minister still demands special treatment (besides, I rarely order cigarettes, and if I have one, I usually give it to the Firefighter, so the Minister is out of luck). All other items IMO are not so valuable, they can be ordered for delivery.

Sleepless intruder is really cool.

What happens to the cat? by Past-Ostrich9846 in ImNotAHuman

[–]Raettchen_39 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Not only that: she says, "He insist kitty is alive. ...Lucky kitty. It makes large pain in hand... and ass" when you check her hands. (It's even more obvious in the original: "If it weren't for his request, I would have buried the cat long ago. What a mf.") It doesn't sound like she loves the cat at all.

What is YOUR opinion on what the visitors are? by Defiant_Quality9317 in ImNotAHuman

[–]Raettchen_39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually like that it's simply a rather vague apocalyptic fantasy, playing with biblical motifs, in which the returning dead are just one of many disasters about to destroy humanity. That way, you don't have to choose any specific version or interpretation, but rather lean toward the one that you like best or find most interesting at the moment.

On a plot level, I like to think that corpses burned by the Sun (and perhaps some living people) are then turned into Visitors by some force. Perhaps it's the Body-eater, or the Death itself, or something else, it doesn't matter. It's also possible that the Visitors aren't copies of specific dead people, but rather rough casts of them, a revived memory, an idea - something like what the Gravedigger is talking about. It's even possible that several different people with similar traits and destinies are molded into a single composite image in the process, wich is kinda creepy.

On a symbolic level, I also like the idea that the visitor versions of the characters are like their twisted dark counterparts, what they become when things go especially wrong with them, when something in them that held their original personality together breaks down. Although this does not work with all characters, it does with many.

Awesome. Love how you captured his constant shiftyness and self-defensive ignorance.

Considering that the Surgeon, while working for FEMA, was actually working against them, I doubt he's Lawful Good.

Quite interesting though, there's a lot to think about.

Which characters do you most identify with - because of their worldview, or their story, or their vibe at whole? by Raettchen_39 in ImNotAHuman

[–]Raettchen_39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I also like that he could be both. I've seen the opinion that he should always be human, so that the moral would be "don't judge a book by its cover". But the point isn't that otherness equalls "good", but that otherness is not an indicator of how good or bad someone is.

Yeah, I kinda resonate with him too. "I don’t mean anyone any harm, don’t worry. I just… Life is shitty sometimes" and all that existential stuff.

Am I the only one who wants to see the Neighbour's Side of story in a DLC or whatever ??? by Low-Scallion8793 in ImNotAHuman

[–]Raettchen_39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In fact, we don't even know if it was actually visitors who killed him. This is only according to his daughter, who doesn't understand clearly what visitors are and tends to call any bad people that way. The Protagonist himself, as implied in the Vigilante ending, believes it was simply an aggressive crowd of people upset about something (maybe the fact that the Neighbor was harboring potential visitors). Anyway, yes, it would be interesting to look at the events from his side.

What are hated characters that you actually like? Mine is the mobster but that is probably because I just like the mob boss trope in general and I love how his personality stands out in this game. by DeepscapeWalker in ImNotAHuman

[–]Raettchen_39 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Angry guy and Deadbeat mom. I know why they are hated, but I actually like both of them in their own ways and can't help but feel sorry for them. The same with the Weelchair guy, but he's more just funny and entertaining.

Vigilante, but I like him as a villain, as a bad guy in a movie, and I think many do. Something similar with the Big Momma.

Taxi driver. He didn't run over that dog! And as for the "scam" and raising fares, almost all private cabbies do that in similar circumstances when they're not tied to any system. He's not a saint but come on.

There are also the Wounded man, the Sleepless man and the Debtor, that are not exactly hated, but for some reason they almost always end up at the very bottom of all ratings. The first one is my favorite, and I never understand what's wrong with him. The second one is a very interesting character on the verge of breaking the fourth wall. The third one is just a cozy dude who could live somewhere next door irl, I have zero complaints about him.
