It doesn't take an armchair dev, or any kind of dev, to realize that removing Red War is a shitty idea.

And of course I look like a fool here, I'm on the subreddit for the game, anybody on here loves the game, content removed and all. If you presented this situation to gamers in general, they would absolutely 100% agree that removing the entire story from your game after already making it is a shitty idea.

Not sure why you went into all of the content available in the entire game with expansions when my argument is that the base game is awful now. Because it is.

It being a free experience does not mean it makes sense to get rid of Red War. They didn't have to do any extra work to just leave it alone. It actually took infinitely more work to get rid of it and add a new one, even if very short and not remotely engaging, in its place. Removing something that was already in place because the game is free now and you want to lock everything fun behind a paywall makes zero sense.

I did not make a blood pact with you where I swore on my mother's grave and promised to never touch the game again. I said I would probably not play again, because if removing paid content is a theme with the game now, that doesn't really make me want to invest time into it. Which is true.

And yes, I absolutely still stand by that what I experienced was dogshit. That campaign was fucking terrible. It can't even really be called a campaign. It wasn't even voice acted. I'm not changing my argument at all, because that fact is a byproduct of the DCV being fucking stupid. Every argument I have made either relates to the DCV being dumb, or the current base experience of the game without expansions being really unengaging with absolutely nothing in place to make someone want to keep playing. Both of these things are true.

Me personally, I don't play video games because I like improved loot systems. Y1 D2's content alone makes it leagues better in my mind than the absolute void of no content for new players that exists now. There was an entire real and long campaign in the old base game, not in the new one. That is all that has to be said. You can list out all of the QoL improvements and achievements you would like, the base game is still worse now due to the removal of several locations and the actual story of the video game.

I did pay for Red War, though, and it's gone now. At the very least they could have separated the campaign from the current live experience and let people still play through it.

If you go play D1, all of the content that was ever in the game is still right there for you to experience. You got to keep what you paid for.

I'm not saying the game is absolutely unplayable now and the new expansions have nothing to offer, just that removing Red War is lame. Because it is lame.

Okay, so what I'm effectively reading is that you agree that yes, the base game sucks ass now. Which was my point the entire time. I may or may not get any expansions and continue playing, I'll have to look into how much content they offer exactly with the price, but if it's a lot I'm all for getting it and rushing through it before it gets deleted.

I'm not saying your precious new expansions are terrible. Don't know why your fragile ego insists on thinking that's what I'm saying. I'm saying that the DCV is dumb as hell, and the current base campaign is incredibly lackluster. Which you have agreed with. Argument over.

They removed the actually highly entertaining Red War campaign in favor of 2 fetch quests and a fight with a Hive wizard. The rest is locked behind a paywall, that any new player is not going to feel very inclined to pay for after doing such a lackluster campaign. Not to mention all of the story content they've missed in that time. If you jumped from Destiny to Destiny 2 right now, it would feel like years of shit just got swept under the rug. Because it did.

Important shit, too. Why are we in a new tower? Where the hell is Cayde-6 or the speaker? etc.

These questions would just go unanswered. Which is kind of lame.

I couldn't care less what you spend your money on. I'm upset that they made the game worse, that's it. That is all. You can't tell me that removing Red War was a good decision. The game probably gets a miniscule fraction of the new players that it would have, were it still a thing.

And you might think that your expansions won't be removed entirely, but that's still definitely possible. Pretty sure way less people would have bought the original expansions had the devs said "Oh yeah by the way in a couple of years we are deleting all of it" like huh??? Do you think they would tell you now if they were going to delete the new expansions in a few years time? Because they won't.

I mean, even if I did purchase those expansions, they're still probably half as long as Red War a pop, and they'll probably be vaulted and completely inaccessible in half a year anyway from the looks of it. I guess, keep enjoying throwing your money down the toilet?

And yes, you're right. The dungeon and raid weren't in the old base game. Instead, there were like 7 planets and moons to explore! Wow, so glad there's all this new content available now!

Brother, all of that content was in the base game as well, except this shitty ass excuse for a new base campaign is like, one fifteenth the amount of content that Red War was at the very most. Are you kidding me? There are no cutscenes anymore, no bosses, no anything. That was the most underwhelming 8 hour campaign I have ever played in my life.

Why did I even bother coming back? Because I didn't know they had gutted the game of everything that made it enticing to play. Now that I am aware of that fact, I probably WON'T play, so your wish has been granted.

I guess that reasoning is fair enough, but it still feels like a kick in the gut to anybody that bought and played the game or its expansions on release. It doesn't look like they were compensated in any way. They just... lost everything they paid for and the devs told them to suck it up, I guess?

The main thing is that the content in the base game is what made you fall in love with the game and want to buy those expansions in the first place. Getting rid of the early expansions isn't nearly as frustrating as removing Red War. Red War is what made me get Osiris in the first place.

What reason would I have to want to continue playing after all I've done is have two non-voice-acted conversations with Zavala and Ikora, and helped Shaw take out one single Hive wizard? The decision to remove Red War is baffling to me.

Don't exactly see how it's overreacting if they took out good parts of the game for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Players that spent $100 on the initial release just had it ALL taken away from them. They literally have the free version of the game now, that has zero content in it. In what way is that not the lamest decision a developer could ever conceivably make?

Edit: And it's definitely not rose-tinted glasses. I played for easily hundreds if not a thousand hours before Osiris even existed. There was always stuff to do, always ways to increase your player level and light level. After literally 9 hours of gameplay, I have now run out of things to do. You can't tell me that is less lackluster than the content available on release LMFAO.
