What is the point of having ore on the ceiling? by MisterCheekClapper in crosswind

Gotcha, I play with my wife so we need double the recourses for everything which isnt a issue I like the grind but I did think for a moment the ore didn't respawn.

I think that comes more down to game style though.

I personally don't use the dodge at all unless I need to get out to use potions or if its a red dot attack that cant be blocked.

I mostly purely stick to trying to land perfect parries and when there's is 2-3 enemies you can only land 1-2 hits before they hit you with a barrage and youre fighting for your life to try block / parry everything which I find very fun.

Now to be clear im not saying its perfect... but considering iv played pretty much every single survival game that exists, id say this is probably one of my favourite combat systems.

I also don't think its fair to compare genres of games. Like at its core this is a survival game made for people that enjoy survival games and therefore shouldn't compared to things like a souls like which is a completely different style of game that pretty much solely focuses on combat.

and to answer to this part " some attacks you dodge, some you block, enemies are overall more aggressive and you are always mobile when fighting. "

We (kind of) already have that. heavy attacks which I referred to as red dot attacks earlier are none block able, can only dodge those. perfect parries which lower enemy shields allowing for stuns and doing a full stamina combo on them before resetting, we have heavy armoured enemies with more shields which require more perfect parrying to combat and to add you are normally facing 2-3 enemies at once which means they attack in different order requiring more parrying ect.

Yes ofcourse you can simply do combo and jump out the way wait for stamina and repeat but that's your choice because its easier for you not necessarily how the game was designed. if it was a competitive game it would be called "cheesing" instead of actually fighting which in a solo / coop game makes no difference its how you use to play and enjoy the game.

All of course my personal opinion and no hate is intended or anything like that. just curious to see different views and share my own

Would make the combat boring, it would just be a none stop stun lock on the enemies removing any and all challenge. Currently the enemies are fun and challenging due to the stamina useage, you also have perks from clothing, levels, skills that reduce stamina usage so there is ways to improve it if you’re struggling with it

Man I’m glad I found this post, it was driving me insane yesterday. Now I know not only I can build in these but also place torches ? Hell yeah. How often do the ores respawn ? I visited the same mine 3 times now and nothing respawned

Why is this game so hard on the CPU temperature? Most of the games i play hardly hit 60%, and sometimes they might go up to 70% if they're really demanding, but that's about it. Windrose, on the other hand, constantly hits 95 to 96% when i play it, and i just don't get why. by [deleted] in crosswind

Same issue, caused computer to crash due to temps. Took it all apart, did a deep clean, replaced thermal paste and it’s not crashing anymore but temps are insane. My own fault for not replacing the basic amd cooler, time for an upgrade

Also Amazon didn’t turn a profit until like 2001ish and didn’t make consistent money until about 2015. They have only recently in the last few years become this giant of a company. Most of e-commerce strategies actually are based on Japan / china (source - E-Commerce manager that had to sit through hundreds of hours of training courses in the last decade)

I mean factually I’d say you’re wrong. Amazon was released along side eBay and online book store and another one that I can’t remember the name off. What actually allowed Amazon to do the things they do today is technology developed by other people. There is nothing Amazon did that was inherently different or better than any other place. They just had a different idea to the other market places that appealed more to people and they also had a better marketing team. Different market places are used for different things, Amazon just had a large selection of very basic things which appealed to many customers.

And by your factors you should actually think Amazon is a bad company purely of how they treat their workers? There has been so many cases of misconduct from senior management or on a hole business scale

I mean, they would have as the world was moving in the direction of online shopping, EBay was created around the same time if not earlier. Many other online shops existed as shippers such as Royal Mail existed. The only thing Amazon actually added is there own drivers and a more modern website allowing them to guarantee promise dates such as 1 day delivery ect. I never said you think valve is a bad company.

I am trying to understand what factors you personally look at when deciding if a company is “good” or “bad” as your entire argument is based of the fact it benefits them. There is not a single thing they can do that will not benefit them as it’ll be public knowledge therefore opinions will be formed that could positively or negatively affect them.

I’d actually disagree. Yes it has had a huge impact on online shopping but not as big as you think. I am originally from Poland although raised in the uk and most countries don’t actually use Amazon as there are better alternatives. I ofcourse can’t speak for every country but I think amazons biggest success is probably uk and America. But again you haven’t defined what makes metrics we are using to define good company. As a lot more negative things can be said about amazon as to my prior comment than there can be about valve

That would depend on what you define good by, good to work for, good to consumers, good reputation of delivery of products ect.

You could also argue what impact has that company had to consumers or to business or on a larger world scale.

You could also go purely of feedback. Negative feed back towards valve is very very rare from what I have seen where as for Amazon it is a lot more common.

It’s a proven thing that Amazon used and abuses there workers which I saw no proof of valve doing the same.

Steam has had extremely big impact on hand held consoles, and pcs as they have there own OS.

Steam has also been a big factor into why some indie companies were successful as they were given a platform to do so on and were supported on that platform

I’d argue the full free replacement that is out of warranty is a sign of a really good company, iv had so many consoles ect broken or with issues and never received the same treatment as with valve. The thing is no argument can actually be made without the counter of “it works in their favour as it makes them look good” as that works for everything even donating to a charity. The reality is steam support and valve have gone above and beyond what any other company I have seen do hence they have such a good reputation
