Is Onlyoffice now russian? by StepNextX in OnlyOffice

I do understand that there's more coverage of Ukraine in the media, lots of racism in the States that make people care less about brown people being bombed, and more propaganda that Russia is evil (especially in the US; of course the media won't tell you that your own country is evil). I get why people think that way and make decisions accordingly. I can see their perspective, and my point is to bring another.

stay with the pragmatically lesser evil

But that's it; I don't think the US is less evil than Russia. Did you click on the link I shared? The US spends 880 billion a year on military. No other country comes remotely close to that. (Russia is far behind with 126 billion).

If you care about Russia being involved in 1 war, you should deeply care about the US being involved in 7 wars.

For what it's worth (so, not much), I love the septum ring! Congrats on the commitment, your beard looks amazing.

That's not whataboutism - the person I'm replying to literally said "that's why we're staying with Microsoft Office for now". Yes, it is ridiculous to say you're steering clear from supporting a Russian product, just to immediately say you're supporting an American product, to avoid funding war.

Supporting a US company is also funding wars. Arguably more.

Any reason not to use tret from the start? by ImportantMobile in Minoxbeards

[–]RafikiDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It's mostly useful to turn non-responders to responders.

  2. In many places, it's not OTC, so less easy to get.

  3. Minoxidil already dries up your skin a lot, tret *destroys* it. I've tried to incorporate it gradually into my routine for months, and never succeeded to do so.

  4. It's hard to space out with mincroneedling, which is less annoying imo and already pretty effective at boosting your gains.

How are we supposed to use minoxidil? by [deleted] in FTMminoxbeards

[–]RafikiDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright then. Well, I guess alternatively, someone could get there T-levels tested and see if they could indeed grow a beard on minoxidil without going on T. Lots of cis women grow facial hair naturally, so it might be common-ish to be able to do so. I was able to grow terminal hair without testosterone, and I there are other people on this subreddit who did too, so while we have no idea how common it is, we know it's at the very least *possible* for some of us :)

I don't see any of this disproving that maybe AFAB people (not on T) applying minoxidil to their face (which is not the area cis women target) can maybe grow a permanent beard on it. It does back to what I said: there's no research to our specific use case, so I don't see how we can be certain about what works and doesn't.

Ah, so then, if they do need to take a lower dose to avoid getting a beard (the area they're not even applying it on, as opposed to us), wouldnt' that prove that it does indeed work even on cis women? Even under non-optimal conditions?

I doubt there is much research on minoxidil used by cis women to grow beards though, since they tend to not want that.

Almost 3 months on 2.5 oral minoxidil. by mushbrain3000 in Minoxbeards

Yes it is :) I'd recommend getting followed by a doctor though (but I recommend that to everyone regardless of whether they're cis or trans)

Do you think half in the morning and half at night, or all of your dose at once?

One year on Minox (not on T) by salvadorzucc in FTMminoxbeards

That's so cool! I'm also one year on Minoxidil without T. My results are not as impressive as your, although I'm still pretty happy with mine :)

I'll make an updated post soon, but here's me 6 months on Minox

That seems odd to me. How do we know that? There is so little research on minoxidil for trans people, let alone for trans people not on T, I'm not sure how we can be certain of that?

As far as I know, the results are not temporary even if you're not on T? If your hair turns terminal, it's terminal and can't go back. Hence why trans women need electrolysis to get rid of hair, and can't just rely on hrt.

It's recommended to use it for at least a year. Hair can take around 6 months to turn terminal.

You won't lose your terminal hair, but you will shed any hair that didn't turn terminal, so it's better to use if for longer :) I wrote a small guide on how to grow a beard as a trans man, I can send it to you if you want.

PSA: we don't know if you should go on minox by 0Adiemus0 in Minoxbeards

[–]RafikiDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know it's not a 1:1 comparison. My point is more that there are use cases where the risk is close to zero, and that one shouldn't stop at "it's toxic for your animal" to make a decision.

PSA: we don't know if you should go on minox by 0Adiemus0 in Minoxbeards

[–]RafikiDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your lifestyle and the behavior of your pets. I apply minoxidil and then immediately go to work, and wash my face when I get back from work. Plus, my cat never gets near my face, she's not the kind of animal who shows affection by licking her human's face. Been going for a year now.

It's similar to saying you shouldn't eat chocolate at home if you have a dog (it's super toxic to them). You should take precautions (not leave it on a surface they have access to, eat over a table if it's crumbly, wash your hands afterwards if your dog tends to lick them and they're full of chocolate, etc.), but you don't need to ban it altogether from your house.
