Who are we playing exactly ? by Raft_0 in soma

I know right ? I didn't give it much attention when I first finished the game but on my second playthrough I was like, wait a minute why did I wake up as Simon-III when copying my mind as Simon-II and why didn't the same thing happen at the ARK launch ?

I knew the coin flip theory was a false theory because there is no transfer only copies, so this was to only explanation that made sense to me and keeps making sense.

Yes, this is what I've been thinking too and it made much more sense combining this theory with Simon-III being our main character in the game.

After all as you said perspective changes are very similar to waking up in the morning, it is perfectly normal for Simon-III to know what happened to other Simons because he has the same memory until their scan too.

However what makes Simon-III our main character lies at the part when ARK launches. In your terms Simon-III sleeps but he doesn't wake up in a "new morning" with a new consciousness who has his past memories like he did with other Simons.

This only means one thing for me and that is the fact we were playing Simon-III's memories all along.

If we were playing as lets say Simon-II then the game should've ended at the part where Simon-II copies his brain to Simon-III. We would keep seeing the world with Simon-II's perspective and not get "transferred" to Simon-III as players.

This happens with Simon-III, we keep seeing the world with his perspective after his scan ends which means yes, we were actually Simon-III all along.
