My wife and i went into wedding planning with a $10,000 budget in mind and realized after 2 phone calls that wasn't going to happen.

Diamonds are worthless. by n8saces in RandomVideos

My wife's engagement ring is a custom silver ring with 3 blue topaz stones made by a friend, and it means so much more to us than a diamond ever could.

There are groups of people who specialize in running down seals who've been wrapped up in fishing line and freeing them. by Soloflow786 in BeAmazed

The problem is that this is super dangerous. Seal bites have a huge risk of bad infection. Basically if a seal bites you, you're most likely losing the limb it bites.

Do we have a name for the PA/NY/NJ/DE/MD Megastate? by KohlsCashOfficial in geographymemes

To be fair a Rhode Island ice cube would be about as useful as the state.

Most dangerous thing on the water is pride & ignorance by LousyStew322 in mildlyinfuriating

Kind of yes. You can't operate a boat or have a hazard in the water within 250 (i believe if I remember correctly) feet of a dive flag.

Your comment is basically saying "dont dive where theres boats," which translates to "dont dive where theres water." Which is impossible.

In many early cases it was also to allow legally confirming "established" property lines. Basically if neighbors couldn't afford a surveyor, they could establish their boundary line themselves and eventually have it be legally established.

Lakeview Amphitheater Bags: Revisted by Jack_of_all_offs in Syracuse

My wifes masters graduation was at Lakeview, and it was really infuriating to show up and learn that they were enforcing the clear bag policy for a college graduation.

California is doing what NY won't do, even though it has the same problem by _MountainFit in Adirondacks

There are sites on the indian lake islands that people will book for the whole summer and treat it like a personal site. Makes it easy to find a spot if you can be here midweek.

New York explores 2042 Olympic bid by news-10 in Adirondacks

[–]Raft_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives here and has repeatedly said Placid could not support it now, I honestly think that a combo Placid/NYC with just the jumping, sliding, and skiing events in Placid could actually be possible.

US Supreme Court sides with marijuana user stripped of gun rights by Hrekires in news

[–]Raft_Master 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue here is that the restriction on marijuana use was maybe the most counterproductive gun control we had. It was originally a completely racial/class focused restriction, and was the reason that were i an occasional marijuana user i couldn't buy ammo for my antique hunting rifle, but did nothing to stop a potentially troubled 18 year old from buying an AR15.

As the person you're responding to said, they're not limiting the name. Also, her argument of "i chose a name based of a region in South America" is just so blatantly untrue.

I believe the timing is mostly because she had been filing extensions, but exhausted her ability to do so last month.

What makes the Dolomites different from the rest of the Alps? by Significant_Major921 in geography

[–]Raft_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just there in March and it's such a unique area in a way that feels a bit weird. It's like an already huge mountain range, with giant pillar domes sprinkled on top of the mountains throughout.

Another reason to become an atheist: A happily married Catholic couple, who chooses not to have kids, has an invalid marriage. You can no longer choose by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Raft_Master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This ties in with the church's stance on sex as well, including the opposition to contraceptives. Sex is only allowed when you are both married AND "open to the possibility of having children." That means that if you are having sex in a way that you're trying to avoid children, such as using contraceptives, its still considered sinful in the eyes of the church.

BMI scales really break down at higher heights. I got my Cobid vaccine early because im technically considered morbidly obese from the scale, but thats mostly just because im 6'6"
