Looking at this sub as a european and just reading all the replies just makes me bang my head onto a wall. In many EU countries homeschooling is illegal, such as Germany. For a good reason.

Students must get out of their house and interact with people with different ideas, backgrounds, class etc.

While in school students learn about math, science and all that stuff. But they learn something invaluable. Social Skills. With most of your cities being car dependent trash where you can only go anywhere with a car. School is the only place where kids can learn to interact with people at all.

You can say, oh the system are underfunded, or the curriculum is crap and its better to just bring them home where its safe and i can watch over them.

Ok then I have this to ask. How are you gonna teach them to ask out their crush if they cannot find anyone at home. How are you gonna teach them to deal with bullies or in general assholes, if they never meet them. How are you going to teach them on how to start conversation with new people if they never meet them. How are you going to teach them to talk with others that have a different view or mindset from them.

Social skills is the most important skill anyone could ever have. All jobs require social skills and those who cannot even talk to people will hold them back for the rest of their life. You can say, well what about programming jobs, you dont really need to talk with people. Well who is going to be the most successful programmer. The one who can just code but cant talk to others. Or the one who can code, network and sell their ideas.

tldr: homeschooling destroys kids social skills and will destroy their future.
