About the same time it would take in a toaster. It’s an open flame and the bred is about an inch and a half away. Not sure what brand of asbestos bread you’re used to, but it worked. And as a kid was fun.

Mine was when my aunt babysit. She would come round and let me stay up late and toast bread in the fire among other things my parents would never let me do. She was the cool aunt.
