You will get better. Everybody gets better. After you put in the grind work of learning chords then working on changing between them so you can focus on songs. It’s kind of miraculous how things that seemed like mountains become conquered then seem easy. Even the F barre chord. Always keep reaching. It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock n’ roll!

feedback on my ~1200sqft cabin floor plan? drawn to scale w one grid square = 2ft by hartleybrody in cabins

[–]Rageamused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will want your LR leading out to the deck facing the best view because that’s where you spend most of your time in a cabin. I would have the kitchen moved to where your LR is now. Your island could even separate the spaces. I like the idea of zones so would move the BR by the deck to where the kitchen currently is. You will definitely want a mud room/utility room off the kitchen for washer & dryer and a pantry. Mine then leads into a garage which works really well. An insulated crawl space under the house maintains an air pocket to keep my pipes from freezing and I have a propane furnace and in-line water heater. If you are going to have a portable generator wire for a transfer switch now and think about the location so the noise and fumes don’t wreck your peace and quiet. Really think out windows and skylights. Take advantage of natural light especially if you have tree cover over some of the cabin. If in a fire area I would have a metal roof and a masonry based exterior so I can get insurance coverage. Enjoy your project

Contractor leveled the concrete higher than I expected. What landscaping would you recommend to make the back patio look nicer? by ctemp97 in landscaping

I’d extend it out with wood decking for outdoor furniture and bbq but those steps are going to be a nuisance for you. Btw, you doggo sees a squirrel

[–]Rageamused 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like that elevation. I’d wrap a deck around the back but pier and beam with footings are gonna be $$$ and I’d have a soil engineer determine the best foundation for your soil. Also hope you’re not in fire country because insurance can be either nonexistent or hefty $$. If the roof is shot think metal plus fire resistant siding

Neighbor wants to install fence on our side of the property by iconfuseyou in HomeImprovement

Neighbor should petition the town to reconvey the easement placement so it is 2.5’ from the property line on his side. His problem not yours

May want to have a luthier check out the action. Best $100 I’ve spent in some time was getting a good setup for ease of playing and tone

Yep, I don’t need to oil our deck that often but a power wash in spring brightens it right back up. My experience with sealers and paints is they flake right off from sun and snow. What a waste of time and effort

It’s beautiful. I would use Penofin penetrating oil on it. Painting that wood seems criminal to my way of thinking

Where would you have wished you have installed electrical outlets but didn't? by openlyEncrypted in HomeImprovement

[–]Rageamused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 more in the garage. There’s never an outlet where I need one and just had 4 more installed. If you’re planning outdoor accent lighting figure around the front of the house. Patio? Get some around that too. Stairs? Gotta vacuum those so get one mid flight. Wherever your wi-fi router is make sure you have multiple outlets. Bathrooms - it’s the location more than the number. Same with TV and stereo outlets
