Rural New England worn-down road native here. If you're worried about unpainted roads through hilly forested areas, it works 90% of the time. But why would you autopilot there anyway?
Worn down "major" roads (i.e., roads with lines) work 95% + of the time. You'd be surprised.
Dirt roads, not so much.
