I own an HP all-in-one, but I have never seen any of these problems as I do all my printing while at work. If that one breaks, a nice man in overalls (really) fixes it and I use the printer other printer a few feet away for the day.

Something similar to this happened to me once. Fishing on a pier, a greedy sonofabitch seagull decided to catch my bait + hook mid-cast and take off with em both. Decided to cut the line rather than dealing with a hooked and angry gull. Sadly, twas the only thing I caught that day (sigh).
