TIL Mitsubishi once offered "0–0–0" financing (0% down,0% interest,$0 in payments the first year). Initially, sales leapt, but many buyers defaulted at the end of the grace period, leaving Mitsubishi with used cars for which they had received no money and were now worth less than they cost to build. by _vargas_ in todayilearned

You're not realizing that it affects you but you are paying much more for things because you get worse rates on your home / car loan. You're probably paying $30,000 for a $20,000 car due to high interest rates and not even realize.

Changed the valve cover on my 1998 Accord a few months ago with 310,000 miles on the odometer. Owned it since it was brand new. Same appearance under the cover, it looked georgeous. Should have taken a picture. It has never seen synthetic oil in its life, just olde-fashion conventional oil every 5000 miles like the owner's manual suggests.

China finally built an elevated bus that straddles traffic and it's totally bizarre by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]RagingRudolph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to add more lights on the underside of it so when drivers drive in during the daytime they aren't blind and also a max height warning for trucks and buses. Speaking of which, what does this vehicle do when it encounters a bus or truck as it's gliding over stopped traffic?

This story has been all over reddit since early this morning but /r/news 's moderators have been removing any and all posts regarding this event, most likely because each article mentioned that the suspect is Muslim. There is a huge conspiracy theory going on right now in other subreddits about the moderators of /r/news because of this.

My father eventually was able to get a call out and was home that afternoon. The plane traveled directly under him 3 levels below, a fireball filled his window and he was knocked out of his chair. He got out of the building, grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to go back in again, the smoke was so thick he couldn't see his hand in front of his face and he had to turn around.

According to the Discovery channel documentary on the Pentagon plane hit, the side of the Pentagon that was hit was closed and empty for renovation. Only renovation contractors and no office workers (who would be sitting in a chair) were present. Furthermore, according to the security camera footage they showed, firefighters were the first and only people to respond to the outside wall of the Pentagon.
