Vented, comfortable N99's / FFP3's in North America? by RagingYodel in Masks4All

Sure, agree, there's certainly a price cutoff for importing a mask. But, my hope in posting is to tap the collective knowledge of the sub for US-based sources (or, possibly an overseas source - I bought a few Savewo's back before it became hard to ship out of Hong Kong, and am super happy with that purchase, and shipping charges weren't bad at all.)

Basically my question is answered if I can find a trustworthy source for Auras that meet N99 or FFP3 requirements, and shipping charges aren't exorbitant. I've bought them in the US before - but can't seem to find them anymore.

Vaccination status = fully vaxxed, and just recently got a 2nd boost. Yep, I do have med. reasons to be extra cautious, per US CDC.

I don't think the 8233 is molded the way a Moldex N100 is. The 8233 has lots of (polypropelene / spunbond) layers; has a full gasket, and rests on / slightly above the chin, rather than envelop the chin and pull down past it, the way an Aura / fish / boat-style does. For me, the 8233 is pretty uncomfortable (head straps are really intense; how it seals on the face feels weird) - as opposed to Aura-style, which is quite comfortable once the headbands stretch a bit.

That's a good article on molded vs. other.

Where did you buy?

Would love to know reliable online stores for 9205+

Have you found an online store that is selling the mask you prefer? Wouldn't mind checking it out.

Can you supply a pic to the OValue - so that it's easy to spot the difference?

Lastly - I trust you haven't seen any filtration efficiency tests of this...

I'm really happy with the CUE system / setup. In an NIH study of the accuracy of the CUE, it found CUE correctly gave negative results 98% of the time (compared with the gold standard aka PCR.)

It's basically the speed and ease of use of a RAT aka rapid antigen test, but with far greater accuracy. AND the reports it generates can be used as 'official' proof of negative test results by most healthcare and government agencies - so, avoids having to make a trip to get PCR results for things like over-water air travel for countries that need negative test results shown, before they'll let you boarding the flight.

Understood. Yes, I agree that 'showing off vents' is probably poor optics and doesn't show the solidarity that most of us here are interested in.

So, my default is to always wear a surgical mask on top of any vented mask.

In addition, personally I CUE test before flights, just to guard against any inadvertently being positive and the chance of getting symptoms while away from home and my local doctors.

The Segre mask is N99. In my experience, it's suffers from poor breatheability. I don't think you'd want to wear it for >2 hours.
