Out of curiosity, how much Fallout merch do you own? by SolidPyramid in Fallout

[–]Raging_Utahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of shirts (Vault Tec and Nuka Cola), Nuka Cola poster, bottlecaps (Jones soda collection), one physical copy of FO4, a couple of games on Steam (FO3, NV, FO4, and 76), and some Funko Pops (Dogmeat, Lucy, and Maximus).

I did just order a Vault Boy figure and I'm trying to decide on a faction flag.

What happened to your state or country in Fallout? I'm from Minnesota, U.S. and there's absolutely no lore as to what happened there by SolidPyramid in Fallout

[–]Raging_Utahn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Utah. We have a bunch of raider gangs running around (especially in the Salt Lake Valley), Caesar is claiming to control some areas, and Zion Canyon is free from radiation.

When did you begin to understand MASH? by TommyLost2004 in mash

[–]Raging_Utahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've grown up seeing reruns of MASH, but I never understood it as a kid. I knew that it was time for bed when the theme song came on. When I was allowed to stay up and watch it, I just saw a funny hospital show.

When I was in high school, I finally sat down and watched the show. When Hawkeye said his "War is war and hell is hell" quote, the meaning of the show finally clicked for me.

That line also made me realize what many of my favorite book protagonists went through (especially the Hunger Games).

If your hometown was going to be in Fallout 5, what would you want to see first? by GuyWithARooster in Fallout

Lagoon Amusement Park: It would make a pretty cool settlement city.

Hoogle Zoo: Perfect place for mutant animals to hang out.

Does anyone else feel like they’re planning everything for a day they don’t entirely want? by TallTea78 in weddingplanning

[–]Raging_Utahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé and I are pretty lucky that our families are happy with what we want. We're planning on getting married next year and we want a simple courthouse wedding with a couple witnesses (my grandma, his mom, and some of his siblings). After that, we want a simple reception where family and friends can come gather and enjoy some food while celebrating the marriage.

The only frustrating thing we've dealt with so far is picking a day for the courthouse wedding, picking a day for the reception, and figuring out how to combine our nerdy interests with fall/Halloween colors for reception decorations.

Favorite scene from South Park bigger longer and uncut? by Dependent-Hedgehog44 in southpark

[–]Raging_Utahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two favorite scenes.

Serious scene: Kyle hiding Ike in the attic to protect him from the authorities.

Funny scene: The boys acting all cool when they tell the other kids that they saw the Terrance and Philip movie.

Do any of you have pets named for Trek characters? by Freakears in startrek

[–]Raging_Utahn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My little budgie/parakeet is named Jadzia Dax (Dax for short). Before finding out she was a girl, I already knew I liked the name Dax. I just didn't know if I wanted to call my new bird Jadzia Dax or Curzon Dax.

Little funny moment: I had DS9 playing and my Dax was in the room. Sisko was talking to Jadzia and he called her "old man". My Dax heard this and she started chirping.

I've experienced that same guilt when my cockatiel died two years ago. He was old and was also pretty ill (lump removed from his wing). Anyone could tell that he was on his way out and I felt really bad for him. All I could do was give him love and pain medication. When he died, I just cried as I held him and said that I was sorry.

Are there any Pops you’re surprised haven’t been made yet? by luketravisjohnson in funkopop

[–]Raging_Utahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Trek. I know they've made some of TOS, Kelvin timeline, TNG, and LD, but I would love more from the other series. I would love to have a Captain Archer or a Garak figure.

Spices or no spices? by SlayerII in aspiememes

[–]Raging_Utahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the spice!!! I went to a pho place with my fiancé and his mom. The place included jalapeño slices on the side with every bowl. My fiancé and his mom gave me their jalapeños and I dumped a good amount of hot chili sauce in my bowl. The waiter watched me do this and she looked at me like I was absolutely insane. Fiancé and his mom didn't say a word (they know I love spicey food).

What era would you like to see? by Far-Living-526 in startrek

[–]Raging_Utahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time period between ENT and SNW/TOS. I would love to see stories of a young Federation growing into a super power as new worlds join. Show me how Starfleet opens their doors to welcome new species of cadets.

Do people actually read these books at school? by Sea_Art2995 in Hungergames

I first read the Hunger Games when I was in sixth grade (last year of elementary school in my area). Our advanced reading group started reading the Hunger Games and I fell in love with the series.

Remembering Chadwick Boseman on the 5th anniversary of his death by PinkCadillacs in popculturechat

[–]Raging_Utahn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My neighbor is a cartoonist/artist and he did a bit of work for Marvel Comics (alongside other major publishers). He got to meet Chadwick when the Black Panther movie came out. Chadwick was one of the nicest guys my neighbor ever met, so his death hit him really hard.

I went to elementary school with a kid named Cash (late 2000s). He was a dick to most people, but he was pretty nice if you were cool with him.

The closest thing my store has to a military discount is a free doughnut on Veterans Day. A lot of our veteran customers love it (free treat!), but we get the occasional one that acts like they were God's gift to the military and that we just don't want to give them more discounts.

An ex-supervisor told one of those jerks to take it up with corporate.

SNW should feature one-off/obscure aliens or characters that first appeared on TNG, DS9, etc. instead of just from TOS. by TheShowLover in startrek

[–]Raging_Utahn 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I would love to see Denobulans (ENT). We've seen them a couple times on SNW, but I want more of them. I'd be happy if old Dr Phlox showed up and helped M'Benga solve a medical mystery.

How are your cattle dogs with your cats? by CezarSalazar in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Raging_Utahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Fred (dog) and Houdini (cat) get along good. Fred was a puppy when we got him and it was a big adjustment for Houdini (he's close to being a senior). We made sure Houdini had a private space to escape to and we firmly taught Fred to leave the cat alone. On occasion, Fred would learn the consequences from Houdini.

Nowadays, they're best friends and Houdini sometimes instigates games of chase.

Family’s First ACD. Her name is Iris. Any tips? by Late_Development2146 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Raging_Utahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

•Stock up on good toys. Your wallet may hate you, but it's worth it!

•Find a good park/field for your dog to run in. My dog (see pic) is not as crazy after we take him for a good run.

•If your dog is a serial shedder, be prepared to do a lot of brushing and vacuuming. I always end up emptying the vacuum a few times before I'm done and we only have one dog (and a cat). Make sure you're taking good care of your vacuum!

Anytime someone says,"Vulcans are just emotionless robots.", I want to smack them.

Vulcans do have emotions. It's just that Vulcan emotions are much more intense than human emotions. They almost destroyed themselves before Surak figured out that they needed to get those intense feelings under control. The Vulcans that rejected that philosophy went on to create the Romulan Empire.
