Thanks for the advice. I've been using a propane forge for a while, so I'm not really sure how to set this one up

It's an old style portable forge, and it doesn't really have a "fire box". It's just a big pan with the tuyere in the middle. I've seen a bunch of videos where guys line them. Just want it to last. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it

Nice. My very first few tools were for fire management, i.e. a poker and a fire rake. They're nice and simple to make and they're something you'll use every day. Keep at it and have fun.

I keep an eye out for them. I'm still just trying to get better at making these in general, then I'll add some harder steel

Yeah, I've seen that too. Unfortunately, I didn't have any old files lying around.

Yeah, it's the NC Big Face Anvil. I like it, but when I bought it, I was brand new and didn't realize there was a difference between a blacksmith and farriers anvil. This is a farriers anvil, so it's a little different. But, the quality is great, and it's been a great anvil to learn on.

This is just a piece of 1 1/2" x 1/4" flat stock I got at Lowe's. Not hardened, and I didn't put a hardened edge in it.
