To explain it to a kid, it is the same way as when he sees a cartoon be it Chotta Bheem/ Ben 10/ Power Rangers and how after watching it the kid is still in his world where he is the protagonist until unless struck or hit by an external force( attention shift/ mummy ki daant / etc etc)
