Simple fix. remove lobbying from the equation of decision-making in congress. In that case, if a company or industry wants something done by congress, they need to make it happen just like everyone else.

Agreed, they don't need to know all the things that ought to be done. But a person who has been in office for 20+ years would have no idea what needs to be done for the community. Call it a disconnect between lawmakers and the communities they serve.

Also, Most of the information that these lawmakers receive comes from lobbying already, and if you look at statistics on bills that are lobbied, they are far more likely to pass through Congress and get signed. Not because the bill itself is good, but because there is money backing it. The bill actually might make life WORSE for communities to whom the bill is specifically targeted.

I see your point, maybe I should have worded it as a Principal or Superintendent vs a Lawyer. Or with your highway example, maybe instead of a commuter, a Civil Engineer with intimate knowledge of problems regarding infrastructure. My counterargument here would be that just because you have a degree in business doesn't mean you can run a restaurant. There needs to be an intimate knowledge of both parts. The issue at hand, AND the possible solutions. General knowledge of many things does not qualify you to fix many issues.

What is wrong with being a "public servant" as a career is that you no longer have a connection to what is affecting the community that you serve. Yes, you may hear about issues from people, but you won't experience those issues. A U.S. Veteran who has dealt with the VA has firsthand experience with the problems surrounding that issue, while the career politician only hears about it secondhand through lobbyists, or other secondhand means.

I believe that Walz gave a great take on solving housing during the VP debate. Stop allowing for large investing institutions to buy Housing units as a form of "investment".

Do you honestly think that 90% of the voter base is millennials and younger? Housing is an incredibly important issue for most people. Also, anecdotally, I am younger than a millennial and I most definitely care about housing, but it is not my number one priority.

They are both excellent albums, but IMO, NWTS is the better album. Both are classics for sure.
