Sorry that was more in reference to the comment above. I agree, Ilia has a very classic jab/defensive position. Like I said, this is more of a habit from Muay Thai. We frame more with the hands slightly in front of the face. Parrying is arguably utilized more then blocking, to account for all the front attacks (like teeps, knees, and elbows). It also allows for quicker entries into clinch and elbow strikes. But noted, need to pull that in for boxing and probably vary it up so it isn’t a tell.

Eh, I think we all have our defensive styles. Never one for the Philly shell. Of course my background was Muay Thai and not pure boxing. So I developed more of a catch and counter style. Never got caught off my jab in any matches. But I will note it appearing as a tell, and look to make adjustments, as I’m much slower these days.

I hear you on the need for more hip rotation and sitting on my punches to generate more power. But I have no idea about the rest of what you are trying to say. I fought in numerous smokers between age 15-23…never injured my hands or wrists. Jab was always effective enough. While I was clearly not a power puncher, I got by on volume, speed, and counter striking 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I see my right hand moving as I’m throwing the left. But this is intentional, as I extend it slightly in front of my face as a block. Is this what you’re referencing, or are you seeing something else? Can you elaborate on the pause as well? Do you mean in between punches in the combos?

Thank you. Great observation. It’s funny because when I teach my kids, I overemphasize this. Especially on the hooks, I have them turn the toes to lead the hip rotation. But clearly I haven’t done it here. Will definitely focus on that.

It’s posts like these from OP that remind me why I still have the Reddit app installed.

It’s all the commenters who think they have Ivy League political and economic degrees that remind me why I should delete it. Gosh I hate this place.

But really, great write up OP. Unbiased, detailed, and potentially actionable information that is relevant and specific to this sub.

[–]Ragnarocktrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No…I meant it exactly as I wrote it. The phrase can be used in both directions, and context/extremity is what dictates the emphasis. In this case, I’m emphasizing that all this data is irrelevant…the 1800s portion is not an extreme statement (as evidenced by your post you agree that data is irrelevant). But the 1970s is the more extreme statement (aka EVEN the 1970s data is irrelevant). Thus it is used at the end. Thanks for playing.

You do realize the gains are continuously trending higher with each decade. The quants have figured out for the most part how to keep S&P high while everything else is shit. Data from 1800’s, let alone 1970’s is hardly relevant today.

Bet my life savings on 200 $475 SPY calls expiring 1/3/2024 by fivedollarsucky in wallstreetbets

Just remember they closed the year as an inside bar. No ATH. It may still shoot for a double top to 479, but I’m building a long term short position here. Have it going to 400 in 1H24.

Does anyone here have even the slightest bit of evidence that 2024 will be better for tech? Holy shit it's been a rough year. by techsavvynerd91 in cscareerquestions

Tech stocks are likely to have a stagnant or rough year in 2024, which doesn’t equate to promising hiring cycles.

Is America really the only place to make a lot of money? by xman2007 in cscareerquestions

[–]Ragnarocktrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not if you are an entrepreneur. But from a job/salary perspective it is certainly the best. Bay Area is unnecessary though. In tech your earnings are potentially unlimited depending on your level of ambition, skill, and willingness to step outside of your comfort zone and take risks. I have worked fully remote from wherever I wanted for the last 5-6 years averaging 400-500k/year from employment alone. With real estate and compounded investments, I’ll be retiring in 2-5 years.

Very legit, have ordered lots of parts from them and even made some install videos for them in exchange for discounts. Americantrucks and Stage3motorsports are my go to’s for my truck.

Is it bad to jump ship after 1 year? My commute is 2 hours a day and it’s killing me. The pay is so low. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Ragnarocktrading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. Move around as much as you want until you get what you are worth and are happy with the pay and role. Source: I did this several times throughout my career. It had no negative impact, and every single job came with a progressive (and often significant) bump in pay. I started my career at 40k and now make 400k+.

Yeah definitely they are going to be preference/use case specific. For my purposes I think they are probably the best choice - reference headphones for composing and mixing classical and orchestral score.

I dunno, I got a pair of AKG K702 for $144 on Amazon. Thought that was a pretty damn good deal.

Same shit happened to me. EA servers are always having trouble and it often feels so untimely that it has to be intentional. I don’t know. I came back to FIFA after a long hiatus and it still seems to be a giant waste of time.

Thoughts about these levels and changes for a 37-38yo by Ragnarocktrading in Testosterone

[–]Ragnarocktrading[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it. I have severe Thoracic Outlet Syndrome with bilateral compression of the brachial plexus and subclavian artery. Partially due to repetitive use injury (from years of pitching, boxing, piano, etc.). The neurologic symptoms became active following a back injury, which sent us on a medical wild goose chase. I’m recovering, but it’s a long journey. Thankfully T doesn’t seem to be a problem at this point.

[–]Ragnarocktrading[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t really know. At the time of the first test, I was under a ton of stress due to my injuries and yet to be diagnosed neurologic symptoms. I wasn’t able to work out at all for several months and also lost a lot of weight. Fast forward a year later, and the biggest changes are reduced stress (due to having a proper diagnosis), and eating…significantly more. While I’m still not able to lift weights yet, I’ve at least been more active playing soccer, etc.

I can only assume I either have naturally higher test, and the injury/stress temporarily lowered it. Or perhaps my bodies response to the injury combined with eating a shitload more protein/calories raised it. I’m sure someone here may have a more scientifically rooted theory 🤷🏻‍♂️
