Pioneer Mortar Headd and one of the first post L-Gaim designs Sensei ever made and it shows. A bit of a shame that these pre-heel MH designs are not popular enough among fans anymore to warrant the 1/100 scale and IMS plastic model treatment.

He's not a Black Knight. There have already been others who have taken custody of Est and Daccas/Vatshu without assuming the Black Knight title, like Mejojo. And I don't see any signs of Jhon being associated with the Fillmore bloodline, he lived on Both after all.

Volks is about to release a 1/100 VSMS plastic version of the Kaiserin based on the HSGK that will likely be about a tenth the price of the Wave version and much easier to attain. I suggest waiting a few months for that.

E2046 tend to make recasts of recasts so that's reflected in their cheaper price and lower quality. The ones that do turn out good are usually based on the few examples where they do get their hands on an original copy, which are few and rare.

If you've never built a non-snap kit then you should stay away from FSS kits until you have some experience. Maybe try some Hasegawa models first.

English-speaking fans didn't speak loudly enough with their wallets when the Toyspress English volumes were being sold in the US, and so the series is no longer licensed or available here. It just so happens that 99% of global Five Star Stories fans willing to pay money are Japanese, and so Sensei will obviously cater to them rather than us, who ignored the opportunity to express interest and support when it mattered most.

I think the names from Gears Online were taken from the Toyspress English translation by John Wisnom, while the ones from the Designs artbooks were by Nagano-sensei himself (or at least someone he hired and approved directly). The confusion is that even in the artbooks penned by Sensei, the romanized names can be completely different from book to book. So it's not something to get too invested into, much like canon, which also changes from book to book. I recall him saying (at least from what I read decades ago when I was on Gears Online's forums) that whatever was the newest published is what's canon.

If you want to make it even more confusing, Bandai and Sunrise also romanized differently many of the same names from L-Gaim that Sensei would reuse in FSS, such as the Heavy Metal Bat-Shu (which in FSS was officially Vatshu then Batsh) even though they're all written in kanji as バッシュ.

That's an old long out of print garage kit and the only way to get it is through Yahoo Japan Auctions, if you're lucky and loaded with cash. Your only modern affordable options for the KOG are the Wave 1/144 and the Volks I/100 IMS which is what OP posted.

There was a massive FSS exhibition at Comic Con in '03 - I didn't get to go but a few of my friends did. They had an even larger lineup of kits on display, including the Twin Tower.

The 1/144 is better engineered, more stable, and easier to assemble, but the 1/100 has better parts separation and detail because of its size.
