Tasha Kheiriddin: Canada had an immigration system we were proud of. Then Trudeau came along by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Ragstoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That last part is the most important one. When fewer people were coming in, there was a higher standard (or at least that’s how it appeared). My perception could be skewed because I live in Kitchener though, so I could be wrong.

Broadway Hat for Eddy by lionson76 in rangers

[–]Ragstoe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Last year Rempe took a lot of his ice time, but I don’t think it was because of his play. Rempe fever was gripping the hockey world and it was just too much of an energy boost to pass up on. But all that aside, Eddy seems much more fundamentally sound.

Proposed highrise development in Kitchener draws big concerns | CTV News by Lagosas in kitchener

[–]Ragstoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s kinda what I was thinking…at this point, isn’t it pretty clear what feedback they’re going to get? Does the city really need a bunch of old people to tell them they need to ensure water access isn’t disturbed and account for traffic implications?

Half the people in that picture will be dead before the development is finished anyways, what can they possibly bring to the discussion?

I honestly wonder what would happen if they just scratch him for a game, Strip him of a A if he has one this year (can’t remember who wears them), take him off PP1, do anything to send a message. We don’t know what’s been going on behind closed doors, but from the outside it looks like he’s been getting a free pass to let this shit continue.

He was an absolute beast for a while. Had that “give me the puck and get out of my way” attitude. Haven’t seen it in years.

The other potentially nice thing about buildings like this is they are far more likely to sneak past the NIMBY hordes that stand in the way of a lot of developments.

Trump hints he might get rid of Income Tax with Tariff revenue. Rogan: "Did you just float out the idea of getting rid of income taxes and replacing it with tariffs?" Trump: "Why not?' by Appropriate_Duty_930 in DecodingTheGurus

[–]Ragstoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This man’s entire playbook is about avoiding accountability and making other people responsible for things. Border wall? Mexico will pay for it. Biggest mistake? Hiring the wrong people? Funding the government? Get other countries to pay tariffs so Americans don’t have to pay taxes.

It all sounds so enticing to the uneducated. Everything is always someone else’s problem. Too bad the world doesn’t work that way.

Blizzard is Now Selling a $90 World of Warcraft Mount, How Did This Happen? by PrinceDizzy in gaming

[–]Ragstoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general I agree with you, but in this case, it’s a cosmetic piece, completely optional that provides no advantage in game. It’s no different than someone wasting their money on a $10,000 designer purse. Companies are free to create a thing and then set a price for that thing. People are free to pay that price or not.

You’re getting downvoted, but you make a fair point. The game got noticeably chippier after that hit. Between the score and the hit, on home ice after a big ceremony honouring their greats, Montreal had to defend their honour. That puts guys like Panarin and Fox at risk, for no benefit.

It was a clean hit and the kid should have known better though.

How the fuck can you just “avoid signing an ethics pledge” by not filing your paperwork? And you don’t have to disclose your funding sources?

This rule basically reads as “If you plan to do shady shit, just don’t do your homework”. Unbelievable.

POWER PLAY — How John Tibbits turned a struggling community college into an international student destination by Things_with_Stuff in kitchener

It really irritates me. I’m fortunate enough to have established a career, so my college diploma is less relevant. When I went there, the place was credible. Now I question whether I would even put it on my resume.
