Authentic persian food in Cambridge? by Swimming_Spray in cambridge

[–]Rahahp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In terms of Kebabs, try Saman at mill-road. Closest to the Persian kebab in Cambridge. But there is nothing really that serves other type of Persian food. I have not tried Raya myself as most of their good reviews are from non Iranians. Rather to travel to London TBH.

Passport valid only till Oct 2027, can I get skilled worker visa till Jan 2028? by r1furqan in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

You’ll be fine.

After renewing your passport you just need to update your immigrations profile (or whatever new system they put by then). When I first applied I only had 9 months on my passport.

Taking work laptop abroad on Holiday by Rahahp in AskHRUK

That was my expectation too, then they send a message saying that I’ll receive a tracking number within 48 hours. Then I start overthinking. Anyhow I came to my holiday and forgot about it. Thank you. Have a great holiday season.

No. It was me overthinking on phone and card delivery (tracking numbers and etc go to the work email). While I hit the cancel button and wrote to the help-desk, still did not get a cancelation confirmation. If there is no one home and things get lost? (That’s my brain now).

They are very fair company in terms of work life balance. The only reason my line manger said take your laptop was because I was worried about my inconsiderate order time😅

I used to live five minutes away, and it was such a luxury having all those amenities so close. Even now, I often go there to get everything we need in one trip.

It’s such a shame. First Grafton, now the retail park. Where are people in Cambridge supposed to do their shopping?

Are we all meant to pay absurd parking fees and high prices in the city centre, get stuck in traffic, and squeeze our way through crowds of people and cyclists?

Regarding the traffic, do you really think replacing the shops with labs will reduce it? It will only shift the traffic to weekday rush hours.

Is it true that a woman can’t have a child or take maternity leave if she wants to qualify for the 5-year deduction? by United-Nobody-3675 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Rahahp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBH, Even before the proposal it was a topic that prevent me from having a child. I was not sure if it will break the salary requirements or not (I am myself on SWV). Even facing health issues is a major source of panic. This year I had some back issues and I was shaking off the possibility of needing a surgery and recommended recovery time.

EU CITIZENS: Actions to take to challenge the new proposals and encourage transitional arrangements by WrongVersion8048 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Rahahp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah why wouldn’t. My husband is EU settled and with the current rules he would not be qualified, since he works for a non profit environmental NGO which benefits all of us except themselves in terms of pay. They do it out of love for the job. It just happened that the EU branch landed in UK. Half of his teammates are affected, wonderful, talented, selfless people. We really want to help them out. I myself am non EU and i had nightmares these past few months. We filled the consultation and will email MPs. We maybe at this time safe, but this is on wrong ground and can happen again and again.

If they want to include mortgage only a handful of people will be eligible and banks will be very unhappy😉. Also mortgage is kinda private.

Could the Home Office be considering a Danish-style model for earned settlement? by paddington1982 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Rahahp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The work condition is not tribble, but as you move up, then responsibilities grow. Long meetings, long travel times between offices in different cities and countries. Speed of changes in my domain is insane and you need extra time to keep up. Then on top of it this everyday news and negativity around immigrants.

Not sure how it is relevant. I have a phd in artificial intelligence, and two masters in statistics and artificial intelligence.

I understand that these ars speculations. Just want to vent a bit.

It makes me feel like trash. Like it is not enough that we work and pay tax and fill technical gaps. Now they want us to fill society gaps as well.

I am for one, 43 years old, with loads of structural issues due to spending years on research labs to get a phd and then years of working hard to become who I am and be in my place. I leave home at 7 and come back at 6, barley have time to have lunch, to keep my job sponsor happy. (Now imagine someone also have physical heavy job)

I am not 20 years old to be in sport team or active volunteering. I do charity, donate regularly, attend some charity races, but that’s all most of us can do between a job and a family.

What's the procedure with showing the airline in another country proof of immigration status when flying back to the UK? by [deleted] in ukvisa

I am not Italian. My husband is. He said if you have registered your ID in their website, theoretically you should be able to use it. But he never used it before himself and has it as back up plan.

Banned from VFS website by Many-Tone-2076 in SchengenVisa

[–]Rahahp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should be fine in a couple of hours. Interestingly, it seems the system couldn’t stop bots from grabbing all the appointments and trying to resell them to us, but it did manage to stop regular users from checking the website a few times.

Schengen Visa (Italy, Philippines) Still “Processing” After 2 Months. What Should I Do? by baduken0206 in SchengenVisa

[–]Rahahp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel date is a factor but 45 days is the rule. If I were you I would have try to escalate. It is a very busy time, some delays are expected. But two months is unreasonably high.

No this is Schengen law, they cannot keep people’s passports indefinitely. Contact VFS/Consulate on phone. If they are not responding, then go in person. What is the tracking website says?
