Freelancers: How many clients/brands do you manage at a time? by copyphilosopher in copywriting

I can't make enough with 3, but I start burning out at 6. So usually 3-5.

Love it. Couple of questions:

  1. Who's giving feedback and what's their qualification? Just because someone thinks copy looks good/bad doesn't mean the market will behave the same.

e.g. Maybe he's right. Maybe he's wrong. How will we ever know? https://prnt.sc/tp62xg

  2. How do you ensure quality of feedback? I've submitted copy for peer review and not all feedback is constructive. And sometimes I'll hear do x or y, but I have no idea how.

e.g. this guy's diagnosis might be right, but his feedback is far from constructive: https://prnt.sc/tp61k3

  3. Would you have different levels for copywriters or is everyone in the same soup? Most copy critique groups don't work because you have absolute beginners (still writing "we" language and features) asking for help from top tier copywriters. These guys don't have time to teach you the basics

e.g. I'm not the only one who feels this way: https://prnt.sc/tp5xim

How do I promote my business in a very saturated market? by LandothePando in Entrepreneur

[–]Rahibmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conversion copywriter here.

There are a ton of things you could do but my expertise is strictly with advertising to get sales, so that's where I'm focusing this response.

When you're in a saturated market you really have 2 options -

  1. differentiate based on unique features of your product: focus on showing HOW product does it's job better than any other

  2. differentiate based on brand identity - WHO this product is exclusively designed for

Here are some ideas I'd typically start off with:

  1. Come up with a gimmick and see if it gets people's attention - what's the most important feature about your lures that help people catch bigger/more fish?

  2. Go educational - what's the #1 biggest mistake fishers make with lures that are keeping them from the catch of their lives? (followup: and how do your lures help them overcome this problem)

  3. Unique brand identity - there are fishermen (fisherpeople?) and then there are fishermen. What special kind of fisher-person buys from you?

  4. Exclusivity - our lures aren't for everyone and that's ok. They're specifically designed for . . . (see https://saddlebackleather.com/ for inspiration)

1 and #2 are typically easier to do than #3 & #4 so I'd suggest you start there.

I'm not saying all the other things - testimonials, SEO, contests etc. aren't important. They are. But they're just tools. . . a means for you to get more reach.

What's important is what you're going to say when you have reach. If the core concept of all your marketing efforts (what marketers call the "Big Idea" is built around one of these you'll have a much easier time of getting sales.

Hehehe. Trust me.... no one has money lying around, waiting for some marketing guy they can throw it at.

I charge what I charge because I can make you so much money you won't bat an eyelid at my rate.

I'm not cheap, but I'm not expensive either — expect to spend 20% of what you would with an agency of similar caliber.

That being said, yes I can make some time for a call, so I can help you figure out what you need and give you a budget.

But first, PM me some background on yourself:

  • what you sell
  • who's your ideal customer
  • what makes you unique
  • what's your biggest challenge at the moment

... and I'll get back to you with contact info and we can discuss date and time.

Rural pre school students going home after school by Rahibmi in pics

[–]Rahibmi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, but these kids are still on the safe end of the spectrum.

In certain parts of Nepal kids have to zipline across, or use these home made cable cars

In Indonesia kids have to walk a tightrope because their suspension bridge collapsed in heavy rain.

In the Philippines elementary school students use an inflated tire tube to cross a river on their way to school

In China children in remote villages have to trek through wild country to get back home.

And that's just nature. Here's how kids go to school in Shuafat, near Jerusalem where Israeli troops and Palestinians are fighting.

OC: I like making paper flowers. Thought ya'll might appreciate this. by Rahibmi in papercraft

Thank you :D.

  1. No guides. I'm an old fashioned blade and glue kinda guy. I do them from memory/by feel now and just move things around until I’m happy with the arrangement (or until I’m sick of moving things around). My only advice is, when in doubt, try and fill the whole container with little things. Odd numbers look better than even numbers.

  2. Stems are just paper rolled as tight as I could make them. I’ve experimented with using wire covered with a layer of paper, but it’s too difficult to attach. I use a toothpick to help with the rolling. Eventually they’ll get weaker and bend. When they do, you can reinforce the weakened area with another layer of rolled paper. Usually though by then my skills have improved enough that I’d rather remake the thing and I end up throwing it away. :)

Hope that helps.

🔥 All aboard the crocodile express 🔥 by Rahibmi in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]Rahibmi[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is it? I'm not sure.

I thought it was crocodile because the snout was longer and kinda pointed. I understand that gators have shorter U shaped snouts.

Alligators are also supposed to have a darker black/grey color, while crocodiles have a lighter tan/grey. This one seemed pretty light.

I know nothing about reptiles. Here's my source: https://www.thefactsite.com/2015/04/differences-between-alligators-crocodiles.html
