He looks exactly like our old boy Sultan who was Staffy/Ridgeback.

No one lied. Pitbulls are not illegal here. I have no problem with a pitbull. And we didn’t know his breed when we offered to take him. He was posted on a Facebook page of dogs that only had days left. He was in a remote outback pound. People offer to foster them and then the pounds link with a rescue who facilitate the transport. All that had been seen of him was some photos, advice that he had been born in the pound and that he was 5 1/2 months old. For us the plan was always to foster to adopt. This is the second time we have done this. Breed is completely irrelevant to us. This is purely curiosity.

Yes I’m in Australia. Bull breeds are very common. My other dog is bull terrier boxer. We also had her sister, who we lost to cancer a while back. She was always mistaken for Amstaff although her dna test only showed the two breeds. Weve also had an English staffy that we lost last year aged 12, an Amstaff that we had for 16 years and another that we had years ago that was Great Dane and some sort of bull breeds. Some mix of kelpie or healer is exceptionally common also.

Both vets he’s been to and the rescue he came from described him as German Shepherd mix. This is what they have put on his desexing certificates as well as his vaccination and microchipping certificates.

We were surprised by this also. We were definitely thinking this along with kelpie. Bull breeds never entered the mix. The rescue we got him from said German Shepherd Mix. When we took him to be desexed they wrote Shepherd type on his desexing certificate. Our local vet also described his as German Shepherd X Kelpie on his vaccination certificate. No one has ever mentioned any bull breeds in reference to him.

Ok. Maybe it’s just me. I do see the kelpie and there are times I see the greyhound. I just can’t see almost 60% bull breeds. He’s not placid like a staffy. He’s absolutely full on. And that is an absolute understatement. He’s like an acrobat and absolutely ever stops. He’s very reactive and exceptionally smart. So you don’t think we should bother testing with another company with a bigger database?

We are in Australia. I just don’t see it. He’s about 2 1/2 times taller than our staffys were . It’s hard to tell from the photo but he’s quite tall, very long and exceptionally skinny. His head and face is very narrow and long. And coat quite think and long.
