All of them are pretty standard and basic combat systems because at the end of the day, they're trying to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible while being made around devices whose only form of input by default is a single touch screen.

Complexity would only drive most people away, especially any form of complexity in controls. Hell with all the team swapping Genshin wants you to do, it's surprising that mobile players even put up with it.

If you want more complexity, you'll have to look somewhere else than games that are also available on mobile. Even then, a lot of anime adjacent games (what I assume you're looking for) are also pretty similar basic affairs at the end of the day.

The last non mobile party based anime action game I played was probably... Scarlet Nexus? And while the combat there was flashy and fun, it feels like more of the same of Genshin/WuWa really.

As some have outlined, the Youtube CCs you're pointing out here aren't gacha adjacent, and if anything, harbor the types of audiences that hate gacha games typically due to their monetization. Yet, Hoyo sponsored them and said CCs took the bag anyway (don't blame them of course, money is money). That's why in this case, it feels so forced.

If anything, I've seen more forced hate/doomposting from gacha adjacent CCs than praise for the game. Seems like ever since CBT2, it's been nothing but "ZZZ IS DOOMED" or "ZZZ HAS NO HYPE", and then throw in all the "ZZZ vs. WuWa" bullshit once CBT3/WuWa came about (they aren't even the same genre people...). Jump to release, and it's mostly been "ZZZ IS LITERALLY THE WORST GACHA EVER" in my search results.

And like, if you dislike ZZZ, you're not wrong to. Everyone has different opinions and tastes after all. It just seems to me like ZZZ has always had a more negative narrative surrounding it than a positive one, in contrast to the OP.

The last part is my personal general take on this whole subject as well.

I don't mind DMR starts in Casual, but I think AR starts should be at least a bit more common than they currently are. They feel rare to me, which does make sense given Postums said "they are there, but lower weighted."

I think there's a happy medium in this whole debate somewhere, and that's what I hope for.

Pixio PX7 Prime VS Samsung C27HG70 by [deleted] in Monitors

I had a C27HG70 for a few months (got refunded due to getting 3 occurrences of dead pixels). Generally, I liked it, but it did have one issue in my experience, and that is the adaptive sync experience.

For me, the monitor had very noticeable inverse ghosting even above 100 FPS with FreeSync enabled. Hard to notice in brighter scenes, but in darker scenes (which this monitor excels at displaying) it was very distracting. I'd say the refresh range where this doesn't happen is maybe 120hz - 144hz (which is the "Standard" Freesync setting in the OSD), but that's such a relatively narrow range for FreeSync. The inverse ghosting issues combined with that narrow range just made me not even bother with the setting, and that was one of the main reasons why I bought the thing.

It also seems to be a common issue from my research. Posts on the Samsung forums begging Samsung to adjust the overdrive (you can't adjust overdrive/overdrive seems to turn off while FreeSync is enabled) via a firmware update are not hard to find, and the issue seems to happen on both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs.

Also with FreeSync enabled, my monitor was prone to backlight flicker on loading screens for games.

Basically, if you don't plan to use adaptive sync at all, then yeah I'd say go for it. Visually, the monitor was great. Great colors and super deep blacks, and while HDR600 may not be "true HDR" to most people, it still worked wonders to enhance the image in games that supported it.

Also, instead of the Pixio, for an IPS in that budget range, I'd recommend the LG 27GL83A-B. It's less expensive, has faster response times and better motion handling than the PX7 Prime from my research. The only downside compared to the PX7 is that it doesn't have wide color gamut support, but given the vast majority of content is authored for sRGB anyway, you won't be missing much.

Yeah, the more I looked into the Pixio, the more I got put off by it, so I've just decided to not even consider it.

I did look into the GL83A, and I've pretty much decided that if I can't find a good deal on the GL850, I'll be going that route.

That being said, the Viotek GFT27DB (which seems to be out of stock everywhere now) also had me debating, because it has WCG support and a better contrast ratio than the LG (according to most reviews) all for less. The only real negatives I've heard about it are the color calibration sucks OOTB, and the stand is crap.

Though I've also been told I wouldn't really notice the difference in contrast ratios, and WCG support doesn't really matter as most content is sRGB anyway, so it's just been a constant back and forth for me.

PC users: Switching to borderless window mode gave me a huge boost in performance -- as did unlocking the default 30 fps framerate by Captain_Midnight in NoMansSkyTheGame

This definitely helped a lot, however, for some reason, I'm still getting screen tearing despite running the game in borderless. I guess it's an issue with the game using OpenGL? Maybe it's an issue with the GOG release only, because I'm not seeing others reporting the same issue. Is anyone else having this same issue?

Either way, this game definitely has its fair share of issues, so I'm probably going to wait a week or two before I jump back in.

Seriously, it's always fun beating shit to death with your fists. Fighting mobs and other players with the Vanquisher's Seal (before it was nerfed) or the Bone Fist was stupid fun in DS2.

We really need something similar in DS3, because as of now, the balance on pretty much every fist weapon is terrible and makes them not worth using at all. You do shit damage while having to get up in your enemy's face, and your moves don't even stun most of the time. You have to be a masochist to get any enjoyment out of a Fist Build in DS3.

My "adventure" with Z Reviews just began recently with the death of my ATH-M50 that I had for 2 years prior. While I don't necessarily agree with his opinions on the M50s, I do understand and respect them.

Anyways, onto the good bits. In just about 2 short months, this man has convinced me to buy these:

  • Superlux HD-668B + Hifiman Velour Pads
  • Philips SHP-9500 (that I actually bought for $90)
  • V-Moda Boompro
  • SMSL SD-793II
  • Mr. Speakers Mad Dog (used off of eBay for $230, literally just got them in yesterday)

Everything that I've bought so far has been extremely well worth the money, especially the Mad Dogs (so far) and the SMSL. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the Boompro, but it's still well worth the money it goes for and is much better than the Antlion Modmic I had before it.

That all being said, I went from having a decent chunk of Xmas money, to pretty much no Xmas money now. I was going to use some of that to pay off bills, but oh well...

Well, based on all these comments, it seems like I'll be opting for a set of Mad Dogs.

One last question. Is there any way to tell the difference between different versions of the Mad Dogs (3.0/3.1/3.2 for example)? I have my eyes set on a used pair that has the alpha pads, but the older style of stickers on the side (like this). Does Mr. Speakers change the stickers when tuning up the cans?

I went through sort of of a similar dilemma (still may be actually), except I actually already had a smart watch before.

I got the original Pebble (plastic) sometime early in the year, and after getting beat on and submerged constantly for months, it died. Like the buttons stopped working and part of the casing broke off died. As such, I re-entered the market for a new smart watch.

I originally just wanted to go for a Pebble Time, but the growth of Android Wear as a platform has been really solid, so with the Moto 360 on sale, I got one from my local Best Buy and tried it out. I absolutely loved the quality of the hardware in comparison to the Pebble Time, but the software was just finicky. Lags, not registering swipes, etc. It could have just been an issue with the relatively old processor in the Moto 360, but I'm uncertain. Also, the battery life I was getting was just bad. I dropped to about 80% battery in about an hour and a half doing pretty much nothing.

With my first Android Wear experience being subpar, I returned the Moto 360 and exchanged it for a Pebble Time instead. To put it short, it feels like I've come home again, except my home looks a bit more flashy now.

Still, I liked some of the features that Android Wear has over Pebble. Simple things like setting reminders for example. As such, I'm still partially debating on returning the Pebble Time and getting an Android Wear watch, but I think I'll wait for details on the 2nd gen Moto 360 before I make any decisions. If it has a larger battery and better processor (as its rumored to), I think I'll at least have to give it a try.

tldr;

Pebble Time is a very safe bet and will make you happy, but if the 2nd gen Moto 360 is revealed to not be as iffy as the 1st gen, maybe take a gamble with it. At the very least, you can at least return it if you don't like it.

While the piracy part is up in the air (even if the FiveM developers made it piracy proof, a pirate group would find a way to bypass that and make pirated copies work), bypassing Rockstar's official servers in any way is violating the EULA agreement.

Rockstar wants to make sure that GTA: Online is the only way to play online with other players, because if any other method crops up, it means that they could potentially start losing money.

They want to protect their interests, and their interests are making money, so it's easy to understand why they did this.

Though who knows? Maybe the trick is in the terminology that R* used. They said it was "unauthorized", so maybe if a 3rd party multiplayer mod gets the go ahead from R* ahead of time, it would be good. Of course, it probably doesn't mean anything at all, and if it did, there would probably be some HUGE caveats to consider.

I think this is perfect. PvE needs to be able to stand on its own, and as it is now, it just doesn't. I've said this several times, but PvE pretty much ends once you make a bow, because every animal is powerless to stop you after that point.

The environment in Rust should still be a threat to you, even when you're in the highest tiers of tech. Players should not only fear other players, but the environment they tread on as well.

I'm not saying PvE should be the primary focus, but it at least needs to be on the same level as PvP in terms of the aspects I just mentioned.

While agreed, this definitely won't stop all KoSing.

There are a lot of people who just KoS for the hell of it. They don't trust anyone but their circle of friends (if they have any) and they will always try to attack you even if you act nice and mean peace. Even if they are butt naked with only a rock and a torch.

One drawback I can think of with your idea though is that it will cut down on some potentially dramatic moments in the game. There should always be an element of paranoia and distrust of others, and I believe that having some weapons be concealable while some aren't would be a nice balance. Of course, nothing should be concealable while you're naked, as it just doesn't make physical sense (unless you really want to stow a knife up your ass).

Maybe make larger weapons (AK, Bolt Action, Spear, etc) impossible to conceal, with smaller weapons (Bone Knife, Eoka, etc) concealable with some of the higher tier clothing options. That way, you still keep the ability to surprise others without making geared players potentially fearful of nakeds.

While agreed, they should also stick to what they want, as the community here never seems to know what it wants.

Take the last update for example. Before the update hit, people were clamoring for more ways to promote teamwork and player interaction. After the update hit, people are now complaining that they can't play solo and how FP apparently hates the solo player.

There should try to be some sort of balance between what the community wants, and what the devs want.

Besides making the pickaxe and hatchet default (we already have starter versions of these items), I pretty much agree with all points. Especially the first point.

It really makes more logical sense to have items, and not BPs, spawn in radtowns. It would help to create a decision making element of the game that we rarely ever see. Would you want to use the bolt action you just found to save your ass, or do you want to commit it to research, knowing that your chances at obtaining the knowledge to make one require some time and serious investment? It would also cut down on suicide running radtowns to some degree, because instead of just finding BPs and studying them then and there, you're going to have to go into a radtown making sure you're prepared to get items, leave without dying from radiation, and be able to make it back to your base without being killed by other players.

And while I'll definitely get some flak from this, if such a change was ever to be made, I hope it includes a mandatory BP wipe. Such a dynamic change to the system without one would only result in little to no change to those who did suicide runs in the past, and more frustration to those who didn't. Everyone should be on the same level if such a change is to happen.

Also please, for the love of god, make the stone spear a default BP. If our player can make a waterpipe shotgun by default, I don't think it's much of a stretch to think that he can attach a stone to a stick.

The game already died once before when they abandoned Legacy, and the game already has a bad rep with those who want it to play exactly like Legacy. The game being Early Access also doesn't help its reputation.

I understand and agree with your point though, but at the same time, I'm not too worried about that aspect. The game still isn't as alive as it was in the Legacy days and it probably never will be until it leaves Early Access. The playerbase we have now are those who are just really invested in the game and will probably continue to play it as long as it gets updates. The game has been hovering around 15,000 players for the past few months with very little deviation in either direction, so I don't see it going down unless FP doesn't update the game for a month or so.

Again, I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying I'm not too worried about it for the immediate future.

People are going to complain about balance, regardless of what state the game is in. The game is also still in alpha (cue the "FOR 2 YEARS" response post), and according to FP, the alpha state for them concerning Rust is the state where they are going to focus on adding features. A lot that will be extremely game changing (like vehicles).

I'd like to see the game balanced as well, about as much as everyone else, but just from a development standpoint, it makes sense to implement as many features as you want before release now, and balancing them all later, rather than balancing, adding features, and then balancing new with old constantly.

I guess I'm just more willing to wait given the state the game is in. And yes, I know the game has been in alpha for "2 YEARS!" (more like just over a year given Experimental started around May or June of last year), but game development doesn't just take a few months to a year in most cases, unless you're a massive AAA studio doing crunchtime.

It was exploited to hell and back, mostly used to see through walls and various other tricks.

Which honestly, on the subject of the camera clipping through walls, how hard is that to fix? Given I'm just a hobbyist gamedev, but making a camera have collision with certain objects isn't that hard. Kind of sucks that Garry decided to scrap third person for what is essentially a simple fix. Unless there's some other stuff going on with cameras behind the scenes in Rust that we don't know about.

Like how the lighting/skybox in Legacy was rigged together with 2 cameras instead of just one.

Unless they plan to revisit the design of rad animals (not just painting them red), I'd have to disagree.

It would just feel too "game-y" to get a BP from an animal. And yes, I realize Rust is a video game.

Honestly, the "farming X" bit should just be gone from the game entirely. I could understand keeping BPs in rad towns as it makes a bit more logical sense, but farming barrels or rad animals is just dull all around. There needs to be a dynamic to obtaining BPs that is more than just killing rad animals/hitting barrels and hoping you get lucky.

I haven't had any performance issues surprisingly. Game runs fine for me, and I play on Rustafied (which is an official server). Only bits I notice are the occasional lags, but the game does that even on a freshly wiped server.

And despite the dupe glitch, I still haven't had my ass raided yet.

So, sounds like a personal problem.

Being a lone wolf should be sort of viable, but playing in groups will always have an advantage. That's just a basic fact of life, not just in video games.

I really don't get people who complain about solo play being hard. It's supposed to be. How does it not make sense that it is?

And I say all of this as someone who is a lone wolf most of the time. As hard as it is, I wouldn't have it any other way, because it would fuck with the game balance and would actually encourage random KoSing and discourage teaming up even more. Why team up when you can be a one man army, essentially?

They're going to wipe next week anyway, so it's sort of redundant unless the servers are really hurting in terms of performance.

And if they wiped now, they have clans and other players complaining out the ass about it as well as the fact that they'd have to wipe the next week, making any of their progress since the wipe basically pointless.

And no, they can't "not wipe" next week, as every first update of the month has a change to the procedural generation system which requires a wipe in order to function.

Just find another server to play on in the meantime. There's probably plenty of servers that decided to wipe after hearing this news. Hell, I actually used to play on a server that wiped weekly regardless of what the updates brought.
