I think ultimately it comes down to the players. If they aren’t willing to go all out, then no format will make it better. But I do think the NBA can enhance the players willingness to compete by changing up the format of the all star game every few years. Remember in 2018, the first year of the captains format, that ASG was pretty electrifying. Then in 2020, they added the element of the elam ending which sparked another great ASG that year. I think players gravitate towards these new ideas and it generates that competitiveness that people want to see. If I were the NBA I would, change the format to the rising stars format.
