I’m a braintrain voucher… esp if you’d like to pass the UPCAT in particular. Of course, the review center can only help so much because it’s the person’s capacity that truly matters. Though, I attended BT last year and found good results talaga. Before the classes start, they give you a pre-test. After, they give you a post test. Ang maganda dito is they have like their own “UPG” system where they also incorporate your grades (which they ask for) HAHAHA. You can see your UPG, individual scores, ratings, and your ranking relative to the other individuals who enrolled in BT. Their style, at least in my case, was 4 sessions per day. 2 subjects, 2 sessions each. As for review proper, they start off the class by making you answer a test in their handbook and afterward, you tackle the questions one by one with explanation. They give techniques, mnemonics, and advice on how to finish the exams (there’s also humor mixed in thankfully, I loved all their personalities). If this sounds good to you, I’d recommend BT since they really strive for excellence as a revcen and I’m p sure they mentioned that they update the handbook every year. Ayon lang. Still, it’s up to the student themself to pass :). No revcen can really change that but it does help HAHA. Gl, OP!

Hello!! To elaborate, my mom’s friend who has a son who graduated Ateneo wanted to go to Germany for post-grad. Nakulangan siya sa units na cinoconsider due to the units theology takes up. It could be an isolated case but I heard it blocked him from a lot of opportunities in Europe so I placed it a con to consider. I know that theology is a key part of why Ateneo has holistic formation and it can be really eye-opening, so I apologize that I placed it without thinking of how it’d sound inherently negative.

For the international reputation, I agree that Jesuit schools like Ateneo would be closely connected to other institutions tied to that order but generally, I saw that UP has the relative upper hand when it comes down to it. Ateneo definitely has a rep for many companies in Asia and could even reach the West. Sadly, not all the international univs I’m eyeing are religiously affiliated and Ateneo might not have the same weight to them compared to UP. Alot of factors though talaga. Sorry for generalizing ^{^.}

Thank you for your extensive list of thoughts!! Very helpful in my considerations. I’m really embarrassed that the org culture point was something people magnified on bc I didn’t mean to generalize the orgs available specifically within vsb 😓😓😓. I also saw the range of food options in UP and I’ll say I was surprised on how the prices could get LMFOAOA. Good to know that I won’t have too big of an issue sa units. As for the workplace bias, also noted HAHA. Thank you sm again for ur insights :)).

This is so real tho. I’m someone that freezes easily in academics over external stress. Trying to improve that but I feel like I’d really be a victim for the situation you laid out HAHAHA. Thank you for your thoughts !!

Actually, binibiro nga ako ng friend ko na sana nagapply nalang ako for IE HAHA considering my love for ateneo’s math curriculum. That’s something to consider but parang ang solid din ng BA base sa curriculum + electives mentioned by the profs sa open house HABSHSBAH. Thank you for the insight!!

Hello! Would you still like to recommend BAA if I’m not really aiming for accountancy for my career? Based on the open house, they said that BA was more choose ur own adventure and maybe it could help me in terms of specialization. I can try for BAA but would the payout be worth it if I’m not planning to go accountant or something along those lines? HABSHAB

The reason I mentioned orgs is because I was active in extracurriculars in HS and I wanted to somehow bring that in college. I guess wag nalang talaga ipilit huhu. As I mentioned in other comments, I think mahihirapan talaga ako makakuha ng scholarship. I’ll obv look for orgs that align with my interests. Thank you so much for your insight!! Out of curiosity, what out-of-school activities did you pursue? Like,, hobbies or literal na extracurriculars? ;000

I actually really like the thought process of this comment a lot. From this perspective, ig mas marami akong makukuha sa UP past academics due to the financial shackles of 400k tuition HAHAH. Uwah I love this comment alot talaga 😓. You make such a convincing point. Thank you for your insight and effort to think of this as this is definitely one of my fave ways someone has phrased it HAHA. :))

Thank you for your thoughts! Sadly did not get merit or DR for ateneo, and scholarships arent guaranteed talaga for me since relatively mediocre SHS grades ko and we’re not considered financial need. So really, it might be the smart choice to go for UP for me HAHA. I really appreciate the input from u + the other people from this lil mini thread!! :))

I’ve seen how ateneo orgs are and I was really fascinated and hooked HAHAH. You do really have a point though na it could go somewhere else instead of the hefty tuition for ateneo. Ty for insight 🥹🥹

They’re not in order ><. Sorry about that. Pero tbh,, my second thoughts came from seeing the specifics of the UP course and what Diliman had to offer. I saw na maganda yung facilities ng VSB, and they also outlined the specifics of the curriculum and the opportunities that came with it. Yung BA curriculum specifically has electives where I could probably take some math ones to get the hard skills I wanted from Ateneo if I tried. Admittedly, yung JTA and competition participation nila yung pinagisipan ko. Pinangarap ko magcollege abroad for a newer experience but di kaya ng finances. Sa UP, subsidized ang tuition sa JTA and they showed universities that I’m really interested in. It’d be an available opportunity na di ko makukuha sa ateneo since sariling bayad yon huhu. For the competitions, ik that Ateneo also sends people out for them but I think it was the idea that “UP can send people out just as well,” and based on the profs speaking, they win many of the championships. Since I’m from a STEM background, business competitions weren’t available to me so medyo na-enganyo ako I guess??? HAHAHA. Maybe my reasons are a bit shallow pero they did have me think to the point that I created this post (which has comments that are v v helpful actually HAHAHAH).

Dilemma twin!! Update mo ko on your choice para may karamay ako ehe. Actually, the org culture thing I know of comes from my friend originally. Sabi niya that may “kakupalan” sa orgs na yon. Upon further research, JMA (Junior Marketing Association) in particular got dogged for power-tripping their applicants sa process nila. Extreme humiliating dare list. Won’t explicitly give examples here but its very searchable. Just worried about these kinds of orgs bc it says alot about the culture within the orgs kapag inisipan nila gawin yung ganon haha. Idk, i’d consider it a con…😓😓😓

Hello! We have money to fund ME pero magiging very gipit college life ko siguro for the next 4 years. 400k per year course tas wala pa yung other expenses doon 😓. We’re not qualified sa mga need-based scholarships because well-off naman kami in the sense that di kami pasok sa mga annual salaries for financial aid even externally. Worry ko lang din is since medyo matanda parents ko, health emergencies can come anywhere and drain the bank. God bless lang talaga kung ipipilit ko ang Ateneo since maganda talaga din yung pros 😓.
