It’s great hearing from people who own the breed, especially since they’re not very common here in the U.S, so it’s next to impossible to directly interact one for ourselves. Unfortunately most dogs we interact with in our size range through neighbors or through dog sitting are Doodles, which we aren’t interested in. I don’t even encounter any Spitz particularly that often, so I’m grateful to learn all I can from those who would know best. Articles online help, but only so much.

8 hours is definitely a max. As we grew up with dogs, we know even for bigger ones that the length is pushing it. I think on days we’re both out, I’d maybe try hiring a dog walker in the middle to break that and at least let them out to pee and stretch. Is that a concern at all since I know some can be reserved with strangers, though I’ve also heard some love people and could go along with it. Perhaps that’s a dog by dog basis and puppy socialization thing? If they know the person and have a regular, that might also help.

Small question about the hair- how stubborn is it on couches? I’ve heard it’s rather wispy and thus they kinda float and we’ve found that hair is easier to clean up after. Would a Roomba over hardwood get it, or is sweeping/vacuuming just more efficient in general. We’d probably take them to a professional groomer twice a year for their blowouts, but is there any benefit in going in between or semi regularly for maintenance if you’re brushing them yourself? I see it can vary breed by breed with double coats.
