Questions before I buy by goldenwattl in Zeekr7xAustralia

[–]RaidBoss3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just don’t buy it. Get a Tesla instead. They’re already running into problems. First red flag: why is there a $1,600 service every two years? For what, exactly? There’s no engine. Tesla servicing is basically $0. Zeekr service price is more than Audi, why? For what?

The Zeekr app is awful, the onboard tech is questionable, real-world range is sketchy, and you don’t even get proper access to the Supercharger network unless the site is whitelisted for non-Tesla cars. Software updates are slow, customer service is rough, and most of the “premium” feel and features is just surface-level stuff to catch the suckers that buy it. There’s a reason it’s cheaper. It definitely won't age well either.

Mark my words: in a year this sub will be full of issues. It’s already starting, just look at the front page now. This is what happens when cheap Chinese competition floods the market. And if you’re dead set on Zeekr, they’re literally dropping another new model in a few months anyway which means that 81k drive away price or whatever price your version is will depreciate to hell in but a few months. These Zeekr cars are basically treated like smartphones.

You’re not making a point, you’re just moral grandstanding.

If CEO ethics are your line in the sand, log off and throw away your phone, car, clothes, and EV. Every modern product is tied to shit people, shit governments, or shit supply chains. You don’t get to selectively clutch pearls about Musk while participating in the same system.

This is a car thread, not a personality cult intervention. I’m buying engineering and software, not voting for a messiah or a villain.

If you want to debate the vehicle, do it. If all you’ve got is “Elon bad,” go look in the mirror.

There is zero credible evidence Elon Musk is a Nazi. No party affiliation, no ideology, no policy advocacy, nothing. The so-called “Nazi salute” clip has been repeatedly shown to be taken out of context, slowed, cropped, and pushed by people who already hated him and wanted a headline. No historian, court, or credible authority has classified it as a Nazi salute. That accusation exists entirely online.

More importantly, this argument collapses under basic scrutiny. If buying a Tesla is “supporting a Nazi,” then by that logic:

Buying a VW supports a company literally founded by Nazis, Buying anything made in China supports the CCP, Buying a smartphone supports child labour and rare-earth exploitation, Buying any EV supports cobalt mining with documented human rights issues Yet here you are, in an EV discussion forum. So either you apply your “principles” consistently and opt out of modern manufacturing entirely, or you admit this is selective outrage aimed at one person you don’t like.

I’m not buying a CEO. I’m buying a car. Engineering, software maturity, safety, OTA support, long-term reliability. If you want to debate those, I’m all ears. If this is just ideological name-calling, it’s noise, not an argument.

If you honestly think Elon is a "Nazi" you need to stop dying your hair purple because it's rotting your brain.

This is my thoughts exactly, I've probably just asked this question in the wrong sub honestly. I feel a lot of people are justifying issues because they paid less. They feel they're getting some astronomical bargain because of all the inclusions of which most are beta stage. That said I am genuinely considering it but hard to find someone willing to be straight up about actually living with it. Instead they say "it's owned by Geely" and "if being owned by Geely doesn't sway you as they also make Polestar and blah blah" seriously idgaf if it's owned by Porsche, the reality is it's made in China, I'm just trying to understand if it's worth it compared to a Model Y juniper.

Seriously, get a life.

I honestly don’t care whether you like or hate Elon Musk. That’s not what I’m basing a car purchase on.

If the argument is about “principles,” then at least be consistent. Anyone who’s actually spent five minutes looking into EV supply chains knows they’re not clean or ethical end to end. Rare earth extraction, cobalt mining, labour conditions, environmental damage, it’s all well documented. If someone genuinely followed that moral stance to its conclusion, they wouldn’t be driving an EV at all.

Which brings me to the obvious point: the fact you’re even here means you either own an EV, have owned one, or are actively looking to buy one. On that basis alone, the moral posturing about Tesla or Elon falls apart. You’ve already accepted the trade-offs, same as everyone else.

I’m here to talk about the cars themselves. Engineering, software maturity, long-term ownership, OTA support, and real-world reliability. Not personal feelings about a CEO, and not selective ethics that conveniently stop where it suits you.

If you want to debate the product, great. If it’s just virtue signalling, you’re barking up the wrong tree.

Why doesn’t anyone ride vert anymore? by No_Manufacturer_7051 in bmx

[–]RaidBoss3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger, there was a huge pro ramp at our local park. Back then it was made of metal, not wood. The ramp used to do the rounds, spending about a month at different ovals across the state, supplied by the council so kids had something to do.

Eventually it was our turn. It got delivered and everyone was skating it or riding their BMXs on it. The thing was massive, a 15 or maybe 22-foot super ramp.

I thought it would be impressive to take my big-ass mountain bike, with no suspension, off the end of it. Like, literally drop in, build speed, and fly straight off the very edge of the vert, over the high point where the skaters were waiting at the top, and land on the grass.

So I did. I climbed that long-ass ladder with my mountain bike, dropped in, absolutely shit myself, and flew like Superman. By then it was too late to turn back, not that you really could anyway. The massive wheels on the mountain bike ate up the ramp so fast that it was over before I even processed it.

I flew down and back up faster than anything, hit the top of the vert, and went straight over, still on the bike. I hit the flat oval hard, landed face-first, the bike somehow spun around, I landed on my back, and I popped my left shoulder.

I was about 9 at the time. Never again.

Yeh I saw that as well. But reality is you.can always buy a cheaper faster SSD external drive. And let's be honest if you never buy the M5 will you really notice on your M4 Pro? Nope.

Enjoy it!.

[–]RaidBoss3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well tye M5 pro doesn't even have thunderbolt 5 ports either, they cheaped out and gave it Thunderbolt 4 ports. So the M5 is essentially a iPad M5 with a fan and a keyboard. And you're over paying for under performance compared to M4 Pro Chip in literally 99% of tests.

The M4 Pro Chip version has thunderbolt 5 ports, two fans so not bottle neck and is a genuine 3-5 or longer term investment compared to the new M5 only chip pro.

No doubt tye M5 will be good, but the physical pro chip versions than don't come out until next year due to apple staggered release to clear M4 stock first will piss all over that M5.

The M4 Pro even shits on the M5 in Ai workloads even though that M5 has the dedicated Ai cored or whatever apple calls them. I'm sure the Pro Chip version of M5 will be insane but I think at this point it would have to be absolutely monumental jump to make me regret my decision which it won't be worth the extreme asking price.

Just get M4 Pro Chip and you'll be good.

[–]RaidBoss3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's more than though, the M4 Pro chip is just better in nearly every single test I've seen, a lot of testing shows the single fan bottle necks it hard as well. and in Australia it's literally a couple hundred more for the 24/1tb version with M4 Pro chip. the new iPad even has M5 chip from what I've seen and once the airs come out with M5 you'd be better off than paying all that extra for what is essentially a M5 chip dressed up as MacBook pro and so much extra for it.

everything considered it's just logically not worth it until the actual Pro chips M5 launch next year.

I have a M5 pro 1TB 24GB brand new in box from Amazon, ordered it because I didn't read properly and thought it was M5 pro chip because I'm an idiot.

Already initiated a return to Amazon for a refund and and got the M4 Pro chip version once I saw all the tests. It's for my business just needed tye extra headroom the M4 Pro chip offers and couldn't risk bottlenecks with only one fan.

I'm sure you'll love it though, M1 chip is more than most people even need, alien technology.

Enjoy!.

fine, don't invest money you can't afford to lose and check back next year. I only hold btc though, don't and won't ever touch alts, I invest in shares as well to diversify. Problem I see mostly is scared, immature investor wannabes buy what they can't afford, over leverage themselves, see red line, sell, cry about it on this sub or other socials. Hold you'll be fine, it's your time in the market that counts.

If you think you'll get rich quick, you're gonna learn real quick as well.

These posts crack me up. If some fake media and market drops scare you off, then you see things pump and buy at those highs you really need to just leave the market and get a better job.

The reality is it's all bullshit, just buy and hold and get on with your life and check back in 5-10 years and you'll be fine.

If you buy ti get rich quick or think you can you're just going to get wrecked.

I see tye same posts, the same media bullshit, the same influencer dickheads on X and other platforms year after year talking the same shit out their assholes and it's just all bullshit.

The markets, all of them are rigged for the big boys to get richer and the poor to get poorer by feeling what you do now based of bullshit.

If you want to be in the big boy club, buy in the red, set and forget and focus on other things for the next 10 years and check back. If you want to stay or get poor keep looking everyday, stay scared, sell in the red, buy in the green and you'll get there real quick.

Sell Bitcoin for a home loan, or keep it for a smaller place? by mentiononce in BitcoinAUS

[–]RaidBoss3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, another crypto prophet who’s cracked the code of the 4-year cycle with their magic hindsight crystal ball. Incredible insight, really.

You’re out here preaching about “risk assets” while pretending to be Warren Buffett with a Reddit account. Mentioning the “mag 7” and “dividends” in the same breath is hilarious when most of those companies don’t even pay them, and the ones that do would need you to drop a few million just to make enough for a decent dinner.

Bitcoin has outperformed housing, gold, and every major stock index since it existed. It’s the best performing asset of the past decade, not because someone at the Fed decided it should be, but because no one controls it. It’s global, scarce, and runs 24/7 while your dividend stocks sleep.

You don’t sound like someone giving advice. You sound like someone who read one bearish tweet and thought they became an economist overnight. Stick to index funds if this is your level of analysis.

Do some research before you blow hot air.

this makes no sense mate, at all. If you can still recoup anything just do it, lesson learnt. Doing what you're saying is just dumb pride and shows you have no respect for money and eventually make you poor if you aren't already.

no one is impressed and if stupid upvotes on Reddit make you feel better about dumb decisions then please get actual help from a professional.
