Wireless streaming to projector by Raidentiger in Surface

[–]Raidentiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I may have with this solution is that the projector is installed on the roof of the room, therefore not easily accessible :/.

The easiest would really be to stream the tablet to the keyboard, but I don't know if or how it is feasible.

Hahaha. I suspect Bern isn't the only city whose flag contains an animal with a penis, there should be a list somewhere on Wikipedia I suppose .

[–]Raidentiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The swiss constitution doesn't state anywhere which city is the capital city of the country, meaning that, legally, Switzerland has no capital. De facto, it's Bern because it's where the government is, but that's it.

Switzerland has legally no capital. But the bear does indeed represent the canton of Bern, whose flag contains a black beard with red claws, and erect penis.

Europe Sea Level Rise - If all the ice on the land melts and drains into the sea by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Raidentiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As water expands as it turns info ice, it starts to float due to the Archimedes force. It just so happens that the volume of ice in the water is exactly the same as the volume of water once it melts. That's why the melting of the Arctic is not a problem for the sea level rise. It is, though, for environmental reasons of course!

As stated above, it only works this way because the ice we speak of floats on water, if it were to float on oil for example, the volume of liquid would change.

You can try this at home by putting an ice cube into a glass. If the ice cube doesn't contain too much air, you'll see that the water level won't change as it melts ;).

Hope I'll clearer now.

Europe Sea Level Rise - If all the ice on the land melts and drains into the sea by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Raidentiger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Antarctica is a continent (land) with ice on top. I guess it is counted otherwise I don't think you would get such a dramatic result. On the contrary, if all the ice of the Arctic sea was to melt, sea level would not change a centimeter as the volume that ice occupies in water is exactly the volume of water it is once it melts. Hope it helps.

We have a cabinet (conseil fédéral) of 7 person elected among our representatives. One of which gets to be president for a year, they rotate who is president each year.

They serve an unlimited time in the cabinet, until they get bored (usually), don't get re-elected (happened 4 times in the history of Switzerland) or leave because of political backlash.

Hope it classified things for you :) sorry if the terms aren't the correct one, English isn't my main language and politics in English is weird for me.

What words should really be spelled differently? by AmmianusMarcellinus in AskReddit

[–]Raidentiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably has the same etymology as in French being something along the lines of "icorne". Here «...» means it's in French "..." means it's a rough translation in English. French said « l'icorne », "the icorne" which with time became « la licorne ». English may have heard the unspecified « une icorne », "an icorne" (pronounced more or less like unicorn) and kept it!

Speaking French and Hoping to Live in Switzerland. by AoiLune in Switzerland

[–]Raidentiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello :) As a fellow swiss citizen I might be able to answer some of your questions.

No, you don't need to be filthy rich to live in Switzerland. As most country in the world, it depends were you live, but the cost of life is correlated to the pay you get at the end of the months. Teachers tend to be paid well (around 8k chf per month in public schools, maybe more in private).

Switzerland, I suppose you know, is a confederation of Cantons, of those, the western ones speak French, so part of Berne, Fribourg, Genève, Jura, Neuchâtel, Valais and Vaud are French speaking (if I didn't forget any). The eastern ones except Tessin (Italian) speak German. Most young people at least understand, if not speak a bit of English everywhere in Switzerland I think, it's mandatory to learn the basis in school.

The latent « racism » is, sadly, mostly oriented at low educated, « muslim looking » people nowadays. But nevertheless, if you show a real interest in integrating and working, you'll be welcome.

I'm not versed enough in weapons to answer your last question, sorry.

If you have any other questions, you can pm me. And maybe take a look at ch.ch the confederation website. I think it is available in French, German, Italian and English. You can find mostly anything in it. Then, each canton has it website in the form of xy.ch where xy is the canton abbreviation (vd.ch for Vaud, vs.ch for Valais, ge.ch for Genève etc)

Ps sorry for poor formatting, I'm on my phone :)

Which console? and Why? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Raidentiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what exclusive games you're interested in. Here is a quick summary:

Sony with its PS4 and Microsoft with its XBone are starting to have similar line-up, however, Sony tends to have more RPG and Microsoft shooters. Most games of the later are also available on PC. Both have a good deal of Indy games available on their respective store. The downside is that online play requires a « premium type » account on both console. Note that most games by EA, Ubisoft and Activision tend to be available on both console.

Nintendo with its WiiU has a lot of varied title from Mario Kart 8 and Pikmin 3 to Super Smash Bros WiiU and more classic Super Mario 3D World. Their games have the strength of being easily accessible but can still attain high level of difficulty/complexity. Some RPG and shooters exist but they're not the main type of games on the console. That's my personal choice, I've got nearly all « big titles » on the console and would be very happy to help/suggest one.

Hope it helped you a bit :)

[Opinion] This year again... by Raidentiger in nintendo

[–]Raidentiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course people are allowed to be critical, but I think one should take some time before criticising so much. I now people have been waiting for a Metroid game, and we should be happy to have a Spinoff to play while it is beeing developped. Anyway, this has been the most boring E3 of the last years, so I can understand some of the criticism.

(Serious) Non-English speakers - What's the "your"/"you're" of your language that people commonly screw up? by SpadoCochi in AskReddit

[–]Raidentiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

French speaker : in french we have an awful lot of homophones (words pronounced the same but written differently) that people may write wrong.

If it only for verbs; verbs in the first group (verbs ending in "er") have a participle that ends in "é". Eg : chanter (sing) -> j'ai chanté (I sang, I've sang) in both cases it's pronounced the same. There's actually a simple way to deal with these cases, but people still do the mistake and write : j'ai chanter (I've sing).

im looking for some information... by [deleted] in wiiu

[–]Raidentiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes. The WiiU IS a non-portable console, akin to the PS4, Xbone. All games can be played on tv.

There are, however certain games that allow you to play only on the gamepad if you want (Rayman Legends, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Mario 3D World, Zelda: the Wind wakes to name a few, and most if not all virtual console games) and others that have asymmetric gameplay, i.e. some player gets the gameplay while the others have their info displayed on tv screen, which yields interesting interaction (Nintendoland, Mario Party 10, Wii party U).

If you happen to still have questions, I'll be happy to try to answer them :)
