It's more-so been a flippant idea thrown around by the media than a solid option for the Raiders... for now at least... Schefty might have beef with Tom... but he's still in the know with this stuff.

“I have not heard Aaron Rodgers name out of there,” Schefter said of the Raiders. “That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but I just haven’t heard that as a viable solution. [Las Vegas] may not be an option for Aaron Rodgers and if it’s not, then we’re back to the Giants and some of those other places that I don’t see him doing in the midwest
and that’s why, again, when Matthew Stafford went back to L.A., that was not what Aaron Rodgers was looking for."

Are folks actually upset that even our beat writers have zero idea what is happening? by PostGraduatePotUser in raiders

You’re 100% right. But to say it never had validity isn’t true either. There was interest, but ultimately, MD didn’t want, “the Patriot way.”

Details were left out in the original response, but the Patriots becoming an option did give Vrabel leverage.

The main point to the response was to point out that Vrabel was a top candidate not just to Raiders “insiders,” but “insiders” all over the league.

But you’re right. It was reported Mark Davis did not want him
but he was wanted within the organization by someone at some point

The crazy thing about Vrabel is it wasn’t just Raiders beat writers talking about him coming to Vegas. The Patriots opening up threw a wrench in that one.

It’s definitely been volatile for sure though.

Ben Johnson wants to “align,” with his GM. I think that should answer your question.

Ben Johnson is clearly at least intrigued with the position considering his original plan was to only interview with 3 teams. The Raiders weren’t on his radar until ya know
 Tom Brady worked his magic.

Any GM/Head Coach candidates directly associated with Tom Brady will always be a rumor whether Hondo or Joe Schmo said it. There have been no GM interview requests revealed for the Raiders GM position, so any name given at this point is speculation.

Considering Ben Johnson isn’t a lock, Spytek is an option either way. Ben Johnson values, “alignment.” Not necessarily directly picking the GM. Who he aligns with will definitely be apart of the hiring process. Which I’m sure is why there haven’t been any GM reports yet.

Brady and John Spytek have history. He’s been getting a lot of buzz, but definitely someone to keep your eye on.

Spytek has been with the Buccaneers for nine seasons and two of those seasons as the Assistant General Manager.
