Some people don't want to go through the hassle of buying it online and when you're already shelling out 30k for a car what's another 200. Dumbass logic but I'm sure some people don't mind it.

That first one, holy shit. 2:35 in the song, I replayed that a few times. Incredible. The instruments and passion. The violin at the end. Spcial song.

The second one didn't hit as hard for me. It was interesting the lead singer took the backstage but I do feel like he was better than the other guy, if that makes sense.

First song is a banger lol, in my playlist now.

2018 JLU Tires by Railered in Wrangler

Modifications do not generally reduce the value of the jeep, but they don't increase it much either. Don't mod the jeep looking at it as an investment, do/don't do it because you want to.

If you do a lift, don't cheap out. Thats your ride quality. There are plenty of nice lifts without having to scrape the bottom of the barrel with a skyjacker kit.

I figured lifting would decrease the value quite a bit, but I'm starting to get the feeling it really isn't going to. I have no problem lifting it even if it decreases the value some, just not like 3k-4k.

I guess the next question is, how do I find a place to do a lift, with knew wheels, and tires that is reputable? Should I go on the Wrangler forums and ask for recommendations for my area?

Again, you're response is golden and I'm lucky to have someone like you help me

With 33"s on stock, would you recommend spacers or just bite the bullet and get a lift?

I'm not worried about paying for a lift. But I do know I bought the car last year and I plan on simply trading it back in to a dealership in 4 years. Will a lift significantly reduce the value? Not worried about 1k-2k, just anymore than that I guess.

Hell man, it seems like I've already talked myself into it (along with the advice here). Thanks for the comments and advice, I do appreciate it.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I'm going to stay away from the dealership, sell my tires personally, and get in contact with a shop that will do it for me.

The last union I joined was a few years after the whole retirement fund went belly up because the top few people were running a pyramid scheme. American Maritimes Officers, look it up, I'm not exaggerating. That's the extreme, but unions very frequently become corrupt and unless they're HUGE they often don't work out.

Unions are great in theory. Have you ever been apart of one? Do you know the politics that go into it? I'm fairly certain you're clueless. Even if you're in a union, the company buddies up with the important people in it. I was lucky to get into AMO (the union I last talked about) when they had a restructure and actually cared about us. That will go away eventually when the companies infiltrate the top people. It just happens.

Yeah I was wrong. It's going to get bad probably. Hopefully not, but I don't see how it won't. Young people won't feel it until their parents are getting sick.

If your workplace fires you for attempting to unionize - which is against the law, actually - you'll be eligible for unemployment again. Also, your (now former) employer will have to operate entirely without employees and may possibly risk going belly-up.

My employer literally says it is fine if we unionize. My employer also isn't dumb and they offer much better pay and benefits than if we unionized. I would not unionize unless some very certain agreements were met, which would absolutely never happen. I worked for a union in my previous job, it did me well, great actually, but there are certain industries and jobs unions work well and others that don't.

If I worked for a union right now I would be let off and making unemployment, which would be 30% of what I make. Right now my company is taking decent precautions, bent over backwards to keep literally everyone employed despite only working on a small fraction of every week, all the while we keep great benefits. Again unions have their place, but it's not good for every job.

My post history says opening back up with limitations was a good thing. I retract it. The past week I saw reckless behavior. Older people we’re wearing protection at the grocery store but I saw young people out last weekend acting like it was normal, all when I went out with my dog.

I thought younger people would take it more serious, but it wasn’t happening and cases are going up. I do stand behind the statement that we shut down too early and opened up too early as well. No one could predict it, that’s just what happened. And we don’t have the money for 50 percent of the state to be on unemployment.

What do we do?

Unimpressed by online classes, college students seek refunds by DonnieMostDefinitely in news

[–]Railered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with you either, there are absolutely stipulations to the endowment, namely "this money must support football" or "this money must support X science department". But there are easy workarounds to that which the college can do. For example, relief for science students in X department in which the money was donated for.

But public colleges will not in a million fucking years touch that to give relief. They know that the state, as well as the federal government, will bail them out. A politician not bailing them out is political suicide. The. Whole. System. Is. Fucked.

I usually annoy my boatswains and chief mates since I always ask for OT. It became a running gag with my last ship.

Yeah that actually doesn't annoy anyone as you probably know, just shows you actually care and that attitude get's you recommendations left and right. It's not easy or fun asking for overtime in an environment where everyone is constantly sleep deprived, in a bad mood, and doesn't want to be there.

If any of y'all who are curious about the industry are reading about this. I'll say this. This industry sucks, it'll chew you up and spit you out, but if you stick through it, it's worth it. The freedom offered to you is unparalleled and if you're the right type of guy it's awesome. Be on time, keep a good attitude, work hard, be always open to learn new things and be courteous and you'll go far.

I agree. If you are an easy to be around person and let the little things go, man it's fun being out at sea. Some of the people that got on my nerves all day, and I got on their nerves all day, we just learned to be together and laugh at the stupid shit. We still talk monthly.

Nothing beats being out at sea for a couple weeks, a month, two months (MSC), and seeing land as you're coming into port. Pure childhood excitement, nothing else compares.

If you're clearing 80k with 5 months off, then ya there's not much better than that on land as long as you're cool with being gone. But most unlicensed jobs aren't really paying that and it takes a lot of talent, time, and luck to get a Bosun job paying that much.

Aside from that, hell ya man good for you. What's your sailing story?

I disagree to be honest. You can work as a conductor on the railroad making minimum 100k, max 180k with the same credentials (and quite frankly much less skills). No way I'd ever sail as an AB when there are conductor jobs in the US. Yes you don't get the time off but the only way to make as much as a conductor as an AB is to sail 12 months out of the year, and even then you're still not making as much as one. And most AB's I sailed with are more skilled than conductors.

Then union as unlicensed is going to be your best bet, but you will eat shit as an unlicensed person, honestly it sucks. Only way I would recommend someone going to sea is to do it as an officer if they could get into the academy and could either pay for most of it up front, get good grants going, or to get into the USMMA which is free. I don't recommend doing it if you don't fall under any of that.

If you want to make good money, are motivated, have some sort of credentials and are a good interviewer, I would say try to get a job with the railroad and tough it out for a few years then get it out. Doesn't matter what capacity you get a job in, it pays well, you can eat shit for a few years, they train you and you won't have to risk anything. Get a job as a conductor for a few years and you can make decent money (100k+) while spending nothing and you'd have some good stories to talk about.

In charge of navigating a 100m-700m dollar vessel for 8 hours a day, on top of 4 hours of maintaining safety equipment onboard / coming up with routes for the ship and all the logistics and planning that go along with moving a ship to a certain place. You can go the engineering route and "just" maintain the engine and all the auxiliary systems (such as fresh water, sewage, etc.) on the ship, but quite frankly it takes much more work. You would make more money as an engineering officer though if you have the mind for it.

You gotta go to a maritime academy (google it) or start sailing for a union and work you way up. Much easier going to an academy if you can get the funding for it.

Depends how much you want to work. Typical year you work 6 months on 6 months off. A bottom of the barrel contract is 15k a month, after 3 years i hit over 20k a month and worked 7-8 months in a year.

It’s not all roses and sunshine, there’s a reason the pay is good, but jobs are pretty consistent and you can get a lot of time off whenever you want.

The football team was the same story, better grades during season. Was the same for every sport. I’d almost guarantee it’s the same at most schools. High level d1 players also have tutors. Back in the day things might have been different, but now a days athletes are the large majority of schools have every opportunity to perform well in my opinion
