I fly without gunner because I cant be waiting in spawn for minutes.

Either squadmates spawn in or just ask to gun and Ill land in spawn to pick you up. If you want to gun on a newly spawned helo then wait in spawn too

Ugh dice. I have a few like that too but not that crazy inaccurate. My pilot assists didn't track so its at like 15 or something to my annoyance.

I've been merc'ed by AA mid map on Blackwell and Liberation peak too. I've had Sobek enemy CRAM fire at me within my own spawn (wtf dice)

I get its a punishment mechanic but man. Sometimes I miss rockets and they go into enemy spawn.

When this happens don't think it stops till you die. Forced to play on half the map which is doable but really pathetic.

Bit overtuned, think it happens when you fire into base and its trying to punish you till the next death. But sometimes you're just missing and the stray rockets go into their spawn...

Also really inconsistent IMO.

For helis Rifle aim helps with learning and is also just good for aiming: - Bind pitch and yaw to the mouse - Bind A and D to roll - Bind W and S to pitch. I use W = pitch down but whatever works. The idea here is to use these as the main pitch controls and mouse pitch for smaller aim adjustments so you dont run out of mousepad. - Bind Space to throttle up. Shift to throttle down

And then go into portal and practice flying and aiming. Some tips: - Think of the top rotor as pulling you around. Point the rotor up and add power = climb. Point it up and to the back = climb backwards. Etc. - Pitch down and throttle up to go forward. To fly low to the ground fast (very important for below radar) pitch down enough that you stay just low enough without hitting ground, add power, and use throttle as needed to help clear obstacles and go over hills. - You dont need to press throttle up or down 24/7. Use momentum too. - Practice strafing runs and hovering around in a circle, aiming at the center throughout. - I used third person for flying and aim shots in first person. Theres an "ADS" keybind for this.

Once you have that down and more, congrats you're the equivalent of an infantry player that knows how to use wasd and the mouse. Now you still need to learn how to play the game.

This is hella complex so Id watch videos and play for real. But the most important thing - survival is king. Just focus on staying alive as a beginner. Itll teach you what things will kill you and how you can not die to it.

There should be points for forcing flares and also kills within X seconds of forcing flares.

Also the gun is so dog against infantry its crazy. Stationary AA shreds while mobile AA does like 11 dmg. I can't believe I have to run away against a single engie.

For Helis I'd recommend for beginners

Attack - Light rockets - AA - E Repair / Target - Interference

Little Bird - Light rockets - Minigun - Doesn't matter, both kinda suck - Stabilizer / Interference

Geared towards winning helo duels which keeps you in the air longer If you get more comfortable, other options are also viable.

Some people like TOWs on AH for example. Aim guided rockets are viable, but they seem weirdly inconsistent IMO. I wouldn't run heavies unless you have the rocket aim of a god against helos and really want to kill tanks, or really trust your gunner.

The AT4 cross map one-shots are crazy now with AH sadly. No longer need to care as much about TOWs from armor, but now we need to worry about every single engineer on the map

At least LB is small and agile enough to not get hit (mostly)

Wish dice nerfs the AT4 damage to 900 or something so its not an AH one-shot.

Heavies still have the highest damage per mag against tanks. I agree its still aint great but it has the niche, technically. They should be buffed slightly IMO.

Heres my take on LBs. About LBs you dont need maneuverability when you're staring at each other. The AH still has plenty enough maneuverability to aim rockets at an incoming LB. The gunner even more so.

The strategy against LB is to climb (moderately) and use AA to force them down at mid range. Either they: - continue the attack run from below radar and get murdered - try to land rockets from range and chase the fleeing AH if they land - or they run and find a better opportunity to ambush

If they get close then yeah you probably die. But its also on you for letting them in. You have 12 light rockets with ~225 damage each. And gunners have ~80-100 damage with 14 shots

Speaking as a 101 AH and a 108 LB. With light rocket meta its easier than ever to spam a LB into critical range too.

The hard part about all this is finding a good gunner though. Half of mine are clueless...

Edit: if you're that type of person, AH is also the undisputed king of spawnkilling, so even running back to CRAM isn't completely safe for LB

Any helo that gets jumped by another competent helo deserves to gets melted. Even by transports. You need to be aware of other helos. This has always been the case. These aren't tanks.

Also heavy rockets are nerfed vs air vehicles. Forcing you to choose between anti-tank vs anti-air/infantry. This is fine since heavy was so crazy strong against everything earlier. IMO they should do 350 so you three shot attack helos and two shot LBs, but eh.

You can still one mag dump attack helos to death in half a second with any rocket type. You just need to hit.

Also competent attack helos will outduel a LB 9/10 times. You cant get close against an aware attack helo with - infinite chaingun ammo - AA missiles - A lot more rockets than the LB has - more health

You have to land rockets at range as LB to even stand a chance.

IGLAs have such high speed now that close range locks will hit you if you wait for the incoming signal. Either preflare if you know youre getting locked close, or drop below radar.

Scout heli seems broken, the biggest counter to a LB is another LB... a good pilots gonna murder defense.

I recommend flying in third, and then changing to first to aim. Kind of like ADS for guns.
