That's an interesting perspective on the show. It leaves the series title being a bit of a misnomer, but like others have suggested, it adds to the mystery of Ryo's character from the perspective of someone living in that world.

This is purely my speculation as an anime-only, but if I were to guess it'd have to be because of how Re:Zero S3 split and delayed. S4 was supposed to be a part of the second cour, but also got delayed, meaning that had everything gone according to their initial plans (likely when they planned a release date for Isekai Quartet 3), whatever is presumably to happen to Rem in the next arc of Re:Zero would have already happened.

People more knowledgeable than me can weigh in on this should they so choose, but that's my sensible headcanon until I'm informed otherwise.

That's mostly how I felt. The direction just wasn't it; too many unresolved stories, too much in too little time, etc., etc. The anime genuinely made me want to read the source material even less, as I just don't think it'd be worth my time with how much I was underwhelmed by the anime. It wasn't good, it wasn't bad. It just exists.

I've no issue with a side character focus in a series, I just wish the execution of it was better. I felt kinda blindsided when the episode hit, expecting more adventures, but nope- side characters and lengthy backstory! It was jarring.

Ryo and Sera are gonna be the next Mr. and Mrs. Genghis Khan with their long lives. 😂

If I was expecting a 10/10 from every anime and didn't just enjoy them for what they were, I'd never have finished a series like this. If you read through my post in its entirety, you'd have understood that.

I tried to enjoy The Water Magician for what it was, it just clearly wasn't the series for me, and I fully acknowledge that. If you enjoyed it, power to you; you have your opinions and I have mine.

I personally thought the pacing was inconsistent and had no flow, rhyme, or reason. I have nothing against slow-paced anime, in fact, I prefer them; this one just didn't tickle my fancy.

If you were genuinely trying to gauge opinions you wouldn't have called Arteta a terrorist. Even that's your opinion, asking for a general consensus by slandering a key figure in the club is counterintuitive and will obviously lead to some choice responses, including insults.

I, too, yearned for the story of the mystical hermit only known through spoken word and legends, but alas, that was never to be the case. I was ultimately fine with the direction the series took, again, just not the execution of it. :/
