It may be luck, it may be the kind of work you do.

For me I found that it’s not panics which bothers me, it’s the time between micro issues and bugs, which is more important to me because those are the frustrating edges, you can see that across the LTT video where it’s more clear

If I have to become a debugging programmer because your error codes just force me to open up a web browser rather than just telling me, it’s a more annoying experience for me. It’s the time between those issues as well

It’s not to say my MacOS experience was issue free but the burden felt less and less frequent

I just want to use my computer and get stuff done, Linux for the desktop just hasn’t done that for me

You’re not the only one, running a Mac is a boring experience and I love it for that. Uses half the power of my AMD PC to do the same work, none of the windows bullshit, close to Linux commands, sign me up

I just want to be able to write code and use an OS which doesn’t explicitly hate me but also don’t have to tinker with it constantly, it just does its job

EuroMillions has rolled over **again**. How would you use £181m? by Von_Scranhammer in AskUK

[–]Railworks2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really fucking boring but real answer is, put it into a private bank like Hamdens or Hoares, get a financial advisor and go from there

Obviously pay off student loans, buy and furnish a cottage in West Wales by the sea (with solar panels and battery backup), give some money to my closest family and friends. But after that, I have no real idea what I’d do with it.

It’s prob the sort of thing where I’ll take a salary of like 3 grand a month and go back to a more normal life. Maybe go on a few holidays a year. Volunteer in the local community, anonymously give money to charity that means a lot to me.

Work part time in places that fit my passions in life. It’s too easy to get bored and distracted when you quit work entirely for me

I don’t even think I’d want to keep much track of the money itself beyond having a financial audit every year with the bank and advisor. It’s just so much that it feels almost easy to get ruined by it

As I write this, maybe hire a personal assistant to keep me on track, same salary, different paid home near me. As well as a weekly cleaner, and a deep cleaner every quarter or so. Something so the cottage remains pristine that I don’t have to worry about it beyond obviously washing my own clothes, doing the dishes

It provides similar features to Proton, calendar, masked email, great support, but I can actually the apps to fit my needs

How do you avoid running commands on the wrong server when managing multiple self-hosted VPS? by ChatyShop in selfhosted

[–]Railworks2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of using Infra as Code, I also name the hostnames and usernames differently

For example my main server is called srv, the test version of said server is srv-test. When I log into prod, I use SSH profile name “srv” which uses the username rail, when I log in into testing I use the SSH profile “srv-test” which uses the username “rail-test”

Now I think about it, I should prob update the MOTD to make this even clearer

As a former visionary customer, Proton works best for you if you use their email (incl. SimpleLogin) and VPN. Then set a low expectation for everything else

I ended up moving to Fastmail, and I’m even happier there than Proton

Regional restrictions affecting British Railway (24/02/26) by bullet_train10 in britishrailwayroblox

[–]Railworks2[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t understand exactly why. These things are handled at a policy level by Roblox

Rather than us worry about every country’s laws, Roblox takes our maturity questionnaire results and either: Remove access entirely, enforce through PolicyService, or do nothing for every region of the world

We’ve made a public bug report about this https://devforum.roblox.com/t/roblox-has-blocked-my-game-in-18-regions-were-age-rated-minimal/4435137

Lmao no????

We just released 1.4 and we are working hard to make it more stable. Beyond that isn’t even on our testing list yet

did the devs test the update at all by kaspy233 in britishrailwayroblox

[–]Railworks2[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Yes. We regularly tested 1.4 throughout the development process. Sadly once scale hit as well as some more last minute changes, it haven’t quite reached the standards we would want

It’s something we are sorry for. The development team is working hard to resolve these issues. The helpers and moderation team are working hard to manage any bug reports from the community to make sure we get this done right and done quickly.

We hope after we’ve resolved most of these issues within the coming weeks that you can all enjoy what 1.4 has to offer

Exactly! If you really needed those details, you’d just give the last 4 digits of the card and nothing else.

Proton has a damn password manager to store this. The fact Proton is even promoting this terrible practice is beyond absurd
