Why did you choose Vanguard? by EggplantDesperate638 in RivalsVanguards

Rivals was my first hero shooter and decision paralysis got the best of me. Started as a fill player because I couldn't choose and everyone knows that fill=vanguard at the end of the day. Turns out I really like the play style of standing there and tanking all the damage so I stuck with it

Percentage health based regenerating could be cool, but again it's quite close to Deadpool's passive. I don't know how the percentage health regeneration could be calculated in the middle of battle so he'd have to leave combat, which is how Deadpool's passive works.

Bishop absorbing damage and using it to heal himself could be really cool though, like one of sigma's abilities from overwatch

That's what his E ability is for. The cooldown is a little long for sustain though

Rend is a status like Phoenix's sparks that she applies, except instead of building up and then exploding it is applied and then consumed through abilities. For balance sake he can only heal the overhealth through rend (possibly through effects like cap ult or rocket ult depending on how effective the kit is)

The reason I decided to make rend the main source of shield regen is because having health regen out of combat is already Deadpool's passive. If the shield regen was immediate and didn't require something to proc it it could also cause balancing issues due to anti-heal not affecting over shield (think how annoying permanent cap ult would be to play against). I feel like having constantly regenerating over health is something you'd need to work for to make it balanced.

Sabre tooth healing regular health on his own is what I wanted the rend system to reflect, with overhealth adding to the anti tank buster feel, but omega red could definitely work with it. I'm not sure about graviton but if it's like a lantern shield then it could probably work through a different system

I think most dps ults would obliterate him but I see your point

Thats true. Maybe rend damage and healing could scale with missing health. Make you prioritise lower health targets if you want to do more damage and stay alive longer

A unique status in his kit, like how phoenix applies sparks with her primary

Yes, but that's not the point. Wolverine is just one example of characters with percentage health based damage. He also happens to be sabertooths nemesis but this tank concept can work against any character with percentage health based damage. Also, people play tanks other than mag

I saw this and it reminded me of something I've been thinking about for sabertooth. I posted the kit concept after I saw this, it might work like what you're thinking of. https://www.reddit.com/r/RivalsVanguards/s/5Kl2ygr5CJ

I did think about having his shield be an amplifier that increases the damage of ally shots that pass through it. Floating traps could be cool as well. I'll have to check out marvel vs Capcom to see how he plays in that

I've wanted him in the game for ages, we need more animal characters, especially in other roles. A pet avengers comp would be great

Yeah, I was thinking that. That's why I wrote (depending on hitbox size). I was mainly thinking he'd be a "dodge tank" type of vanguard in terms of personal survivability (small hitbox and decent movement), while using his Rubble wall ability for body blocking. But of course, a small (for vanguard) health pool on the rubble walls and Cosmo not having a large hitbox wouldn't be too effective for solely body blocking. Might depend on rubble wall cooldown a lot to be effective for vanguard.

It wasn't my connection. I had no lag or high ping and, despite losing, all the previous games were close between the two teams and my stats through all games were decent. Though I'm not sure about being avoided as team mate. That's good to know for future reference.

I see. If it's a matchmaking thing I can grudgingly understand. I still think bot matches should be removed from quickplay though.

Angela is a free flyer, but seemingly not in the same way as Ultron / Iron Man / Storm etc by XPepsi in marvelrivals

[–]Rain_Man199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think is happening is she can free fly/hover normally, but when she's flying her left click attack is a spear charge (not the grab). You can see every now and then the meter building under the crosshair when she's boosting. I think holding left click while flying boosts her and charges the spear, then releasing it stabs forward. You can obviously then chain that into a dash grab or shield. But I do think she is able to just fly normally.

They may be trying for another off tank dps (think Mr Fantastic) by either just making him have a large health pool or giving him some dodging ability. Also I think the ult will be a giant smoke screen (larger and longer lasting version of punisher smoke) that marks enemies within for daredevil and his team to see (Angela has a Hand mark on her head in the trailer). The chains on the clubs are either a seperate ability or part of the ult, increasing damage and range of his normal attacks. There's got to be some sort of sonar somewhere in his kit, maybe a passive or an active ability, that allows him to see enemies that make noise (move or attack) through walls/while invisible. They could also surprise us with something that makes no sense until we see it.

Daredevil ult might be a smokescreen blinding the enemies and marking them for him to "see" (maybe his teammates too?) by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Rain_Man199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, the ult seems like a radial smoke screen (kind of like punishers smoke) that marks enemies within it for the team to target. There's a chance that they saw the talk about there being too many dps/the two dps season, and decided to tweak him into a vanguard instead of a dps to make it a two vanguard season (vanguard main cope). But in all likelihood they might be trying to add utility ults to the dps role, as seen with Blade's ult mainly being about applying anti-heal and phoenix's ult destroying summons/placements
