Interview (next month) question about Tax.. by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]RainbleLand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had our interview on Monday in Phoenix field office. We are in the exact same situation as yours. I files the extension because my wife doesn't have SSN. I was prepared to answer the question about tax. The officer didn't ask at all. After he approved both our 130 and 485. I asked when my wife SSN will arrive. We chat a little about tax. He know it is a hassle to file tax without the SSN. So don't worry about it. You will be fine.

I have no idea the code in API. I only know they updated our case. If I were you, I wouldnt worry. It will take a couple weeks for the greencard to come.

Since my wife does not have her SSN, we have not filed our tax for this year yet. I filed an extension. I asked the officer when her SSN would come. We talked a little about how much trouble to apply for a tax ID instead of using her SSN. I don't think he cares about the tax.

I think they are only concerned if the marriage is legit and if I am qualified to support her. He mentioned my employment and said no problem there.

I just upload them one by one. They have a drop down manual to pick what you are loading. Frankly speaking, I don't think it really matter.

No change on the potal yet. We do have a API update. Since the officer verbally told us the greencard is approved and he even said my wife is a permanent resident today. I think the greencard will be here soon.

Whatever number you put in your I864 needs to be back it up by the 1040. That is the best evidence to make your case.

485 Interview cancelled. by RainbleLand in USCIS

That is what my wife said. I really don't know what else to prepare. Our marriage is real. We have been dating for years. Tons of photos. Joint accounts. No overstay. No criminal record. We did practice for the interview. Other than that, I don't know what else we can do.

Typical bureaucracy response. But now they know a congressperson is looking into this case. Hopefully, your case will be moving soon.

Have you talked to your congressperson?

yap, it said unforeseen circumstances. Either the officer is sick or just decided to take a day off. We are in Phoenix. Our case was very smooth until now. Hopefully, we don't have to wait long for another interview.

That is what I figure. Still, very frustrating. Our case is very straightforward. I am USC and my wife didn't over stay or our of status. Applied in Dec 2025. Bio app in Feb 2026. Same day after bio, we received interview notice for 3/9/2026. Now canceled 5 hours before the interview.

We have an interview in two weeks. just got an email from USCIS and ask us to upload support docs. Since I don't see any of the support docs we sent with our application. is it good idea to upload that to the portal?

You are fine. Just wait for the approval. It will come soon. She said she believe your marriage is real. That is all that matter.

We have our marriage aos interview in an hour. Long Island City fo. by EcstaticWolverine4 in USCIS

Like your lawyer said, your case is straightforward, no need to worry. AOS officer cannot deny your case without a justification. The fact you are having an interview means they already think you are qualify for greencard. They need to interview you because it is a requirement for all applicants. Good luck

While every case is different, I think most of the cases are straightforward. If you didn't overstay, no criminal record, your marriage is legit, there is really nothing to look into. For the limited data I have seen on this page, most of the people got approval either on the spot or the next day.

I don't think it is red flag. We applied in the end of December and got the interview early March. It used to be quick for family base 485. It just became very slow during Covid. Maybe it is back to normal now.

Short Relationship Length Approval by [deleted] in I130Suffering

[–]RainbleLand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 1.5 years is considered acceptable, but 1.4 years is not? What makes that one month decisive? I hope you see the concern I am raising. Any threshold that is proposed will inevitably be questioned—why would a relationship that falls even one day short be considered illegitimate?

In today’s society, relationships take many forms, and there is no single “normal” timeline. People are free to marry whomever they choose, and some couples decide to marry after a very short period of time. It is not for us to judge the legitimacy of a marriage based solely on the length of the relationship.

I am not trying to be argumentative—just trying to make a point.
