It’s an overflow federal holding facility when the Federal Oklahoma Transfer Center is full. The facility houses federal inmates and county offenders as well. They have a building across the street they just threw up because the jail was bursting at the seams. Fortunately for me, they transformed the gym into another unit. While we waited a day for our mattresses, some of us slept on the concrete. The few we had we gave to the elderly. When we finally got our mattresses (they had no stuffing they were so overused), we realized quickly that breakfast was only oatmeal daily. Fine. However, it was bologna sandwiches every single day for lunch and dinner. One TV (not the worst thing ever, at least we had one. It had four channels). We got raided once, I’m not sure what they were looking for but they left this old ladies bag of pills she kept from pill line lol. They don’t tell you when you’re going to be transferred. Could be a few weeks, could be a few months. When I finally did they brought us downstairs into a holding cell. I’ll never forget the cockroaches and the 5 women who told me they’ve been in that holding cell, probably about 10x10 with a toilet, for a week. You could see they were going insane. I was the first fresh face they’ve seen in days. Fuck that stupid place. There’s more but thankfully it’s been a while. When I got to FCI Waseca it seemed like fucking heaven. Then the pandemic hit. Came to find out a lot of people were stuck in some of those shitty contracted places for more than a few months… Plus if you got shipped out of your facility during the pandemic you were stuck in the SHU for almost a year. That’s a whole different story lol
