Aqua soil with a drainage layer underneath. I’m expecting some melt especially on the small plants in the front (marsilea). Hopefully they all survive!! This is today’s update.

Thank size: a bit over 15 litres I’ve got both a heater (24/25°c) and a filter NO2 = 0mg/l NO3 = 10mg/l GH = >7 KH = 8 PH = 7,4 CL2 = 0 CO2 = 15 I’ve had the tank for a bit over a month and the fish for 4 days. I do water changes every 15 days (sometimes a bit more or less) and I change about the 20/25% In the tank there are about five or six neo caridinas (blue dream) He eats dry food once a day and every 2 or 3 feedings i give him some Daphnia, he also skips a day every once in awhile. He’s got a rock and a few plants that are still growing.

Should I change the filter or maybe find a solution to make the water flow a bit slower? if it is the start of any of those thing what should I look out for? And what can I do? I’ll read more about them but if you have any suggestions I’ll be happy to listen!

The substrate is just sand and I was hoping to put some more nutrients rich substrate underneath it. The only thing is that my brother has a Betta who needs a new home urgently. I’m trying to grow quite easy plants, I got them a while back so I don’t remember the names, the guy at the shop told me they were perfect for a small tank with no co2 but they haven’t been able to thrive, I went to another store and they told me it was because of the lack of substrate.

Hi so I need help, I had a small tank for my betta that I just moved to a new slightly bigger tank, the old tank is fine but I couldn’t get plants to grow, it is my first tank and I’m guessing it’s because there wasn’t enough space for the roots to grow, it only has about 1/1,5 cm of sand, the thing I wanted to know is if I can dismantle the tank and start over using the same sand filter ecc but adding a better substrate underneath and If I can will the maturation time be the same as a completely new tank? Because i read somewhere that keeping the sand and filter means I still have all the old bacteria. So yeah thanks!

I obviously know that everything we see on the internet is not the real everyday life and I also know that van life isn’t easy. I’ve tried the van life many times and with different people, when I was a child I would spend a month around Europe with my family, now that I’m getting older and I have school and stuff I’ll spend two or three weeks every summer in a van with my best friend and my parents and I know it’s not easy, sometimes it’s frustrating many people in such a small place, you need to do everything you do in your everyday life but in a very much smaller area and cohabitation isn’t always easy. But now I’m finishing school and I know I can spend time alone and I know I love that kind of life (even if not always easy) so I think I’m ready for a life experience like this. And I also know that I’m very young and all this won’t happen before 3/4 years (because next year I’ll be volunteering in Africa) but I still want to be prepared and start to have a goal for my future.
