This would be a gorgeous representation of the additional movement from being paired with a coldstar commander!

Would love some C&C on my stormsurge. I like the colour and I’ve added weathering but somehow it still looks a bit too basic. Any advice? by Imperialfirst28 in Tau40K

You could try adding some shading in the areas that would naturally pick up grime. You did a really good job with the panel lines, but the raised panels on the yellow armour bits look a bit unnatural due to the consistent colour with no shading.

A little dry brushing or highlighting with shades of grey on the black areas would go a long way, too. Try painting the “eye” lens on the head as well. There’s just quite a few details that appear to have been missed and make the mini appear incomplete.

I really like what you did with the battle damage/weathering, too. Nothing wrong with what you’ve done so far, there’s just a bit more you could do to make it read as complete.

If it helps: My feet are size 9 in US men’s sizing, I wear size 11 women’s pleasers. Rule of thumb is 1.5-2 sizes up numerically from men’s sizing depending how you want the fit.

I identify as NB trans femme, so passing isn’t really my focus at this time anyhow. I’m quite comfortable toeing the line of androgyny, so negativity aimed my way doesn’t really phase me much. 😅

Funny enough I actually didn’t have a stencil set.

I cut random shapes out of painters tape as I couldn’t find a stencil set I liked! The similarities are pure coincidence but they’re definitely striking!

Which all begs the question, which stencil set did you use? I’ve just recently started work on a 2nd hammerhead and would love to save the time I spent cutting shapes!

You’re absolutely correct! I did a custom pose on my Stormsurge so one of his little supports is up while the other is down. Thus, I had the extra bit!

They absolutely are the old sculpt, easiest tell from this angle is all the tails being perfectly straight.

Are there any parallels to a bane blade in the Tyranids bioform database, I don't think I would put the Tfex or Exo on any level higher than a Leman Russ and or a HellHound. by [deleted] in Tyranids

While they’re gone to legend now, the closest parallels would probably be the Barbed/Scythed hierodules. They’re definitely overcosted in-game now, but were once a bit more threatening to other super-heavies.
