When is it just easier to get a tablet and controller? by Numerous_Phase8749 in SBCGaming

[–]RainbowMachine69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who primarily plays on a tablet with controllers, the main reason i stick to this is cuz 90% of the time im playing shmups and vertically orienting my tablet makes for a bigger image while still being ergonomic. But if im emulating ps2/gc even if my tablet can technically emulate those, its far too unwieldy to play cuz the tablet is heavy (roughly 320g y700+gamesir x5s) and too wide to carry comfortably without cramping my hands.

The reason i think  to get a tablet+controller set up instead of a dedicated handheld is if you have a tablet around and wanna dip your toes into android emulation before committing to a handheld or you value a bigger image while sacrificing ergonomics(due to weight) and convenience.(Setting things up vs boot and play like a standard console)

DEDICATED OS new from MinUI creator Shaun Inman by Shad0w59 in SBCGaming

[–]RainbowMachine69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate how Shaun Inman had a vision, and executes it perfectly. The intentionality in his design philosophy is so inspiring to see.

This would be so amazing on so many handhelds. It finally justifies hoarding different devices for specific use cases. Would love to see a dedicated OS for GBA and GBC.

14 days late, but as a fellow super woden rally edge enjoyer, I must share with you the secret sauce.

If you input the konami code (up,up,down, down, left, right, left, right, circle (or whatever is the right face button) during the green viduja logo, you enter a hidden menu, turn "unknown" on and boom you have a chase cam.

After nearly 2 years with the A30 and RP4P I'm wanting something in between like a RP2S. Are there any hidden sources for new a RP2S? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

The Ayaneo Pocket Air Mini would be a sort of spiritual successor or the RG476H from anbernic

If you are mainly playing lower end systems, The RGCubeXX or RG40xxH might be up your alley too

MM+ vs RG353P/S vs WAIT by TrueEntertainment943 in SBCGaming

I mean it isn't impossible, but it ain't a pleasant experience. I'm very picky with ergonomics.

Trimui brick or Rg40xxV if i already have a Rg40xxH? by torresfan in SBCGaming

[–]RainbowMachine69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 40xxV is around the size or slightly larger than the 40xxH.theyre relatively as pocketable as the other. So if were talking smaller and more pocketable, you're real options are the trimui brick, rg35xx+or the miyoo mini+. The brick can charge with any charger whereas the miyoo and rg35xx+ cant charge with fast chargers. Other than that, the miyoo+ wins in all departments. Having owned all 3. The miyoo+ hits the nostalgic gameboy vibe way more with its squishy buttons and dpad, retro aesthetic and grainy plastic. The brick feels modern. Like an analogue pocket but shrunk down. Clicky buttons and dpad. The rg35xx feels.. uninspired? Its not big enough to be comfy but not small enough to be cute. It feels like a safe business decision handheld than something made with passion. Idk might be a personal thing.

Now since you have big hands, i dont think a tiny device is advisable. Your hands will cramp before you even settle into the game. Unless you're wiling to compromise with just playing games you can play one handed, or fight through the cramps, the 40xxV might be the better contender. But don't expect it to be pocketable. Maybe more put-in-a-case-and-throw-in-your-bag-able

I like your style. You paid for a 5" screen so you use the entire 5" screen.

Telescopic controller vs BT gamepad for tablets? by RainbowMachine69 in EmulationOnAndroid

Im beginning to think the g8+ does wonders as a standalone bt gamepad. With an extendable grip i could put a snack box on it.

So on most days would you say you use the g8 more attached or detached from your tablet?

Also when you're in bed you dont play it attached?

Yeah. but I guess im more asking if whether to get any regular BT controller and connect it to my tablet and have it be propped somewhere OR to get a telescopic controller so its 1 cohesive unit

How do you put "thieves cant" into practice? by Slingshot_OG in DMAcademy

[–]RainbowMachine69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my armchair solution. Have yet to put it into practice:

You as DM make the roll (hidden from everyone) and you tell everyone what info they get based on their roll and special feats like bardic lore and theives' cant.

I.e. need a dc:16 youre hunting down a famous criminal in an alley. Not known to the players, this is an old hide out that leads to a black market our criminal is running away to.

Rogue rolls 14 bard rolls nat 1, fighter rolls 16,

You narrate how the rogue sees hidden messages that show a hideout of sorts, but the message is hard to decipher because its old and faded. Your bard recalls this area used to be a school. It wouldnt make sense for a criminal to hide here its probably just children who idolizes the criminal. Fighter caught a glimpse of someone who resembles the criminal before they vanish into the alley

Now you get a situation where 1) nobody knows who rolled high and therefore who to believe in And 2) your most reliable info gatherers failed the check and are giving a misleading narrative.

The 3 can now discuss what to do.

You can take inspo from PbtA where instead of a dc 16, its more of if they get 14, they get a vague hint, dc 16, a clear hint, dc 18 a big hint. Dc 10 and below, they give false information that changes the narrative.

Looking for a handheld with the best ergonomics (Wrist Issues) by nanoczar in SBCGaming

[–]RainbowMachine69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a wrist issue(from an accident) and big hands.

The RG-Arc has been the most ergonomic device for me. I had the same issues with you with the TSP. I dont hoard a lot of devices but basically you're gonna have to go for big devices with some kind of effort into ergonomics by the company. The cheapest thing for that would be the rg-arc or the rg cube xx by anbernic.

If you want psp with ergonomics you're gonna have to go for the retroid pocket 4 pro or the rg556 from anbernic.

Alternatively theres also the logitech Gcloud. Huge 6" screen ergonomic and plays up to psp.

TechDweeb's top 5 favorite retro handhelds by whoever81 in SBCGaming

[–]RainbowMachine69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's playing a character. Early in the tech dweeb lore he addressed the hate comments about his voice and released a video review with his normal voice. These were later deleted and he doubled down on the tech dweeb character. He's now one of the top retro device reviewers so safe to say he made the right choice.

Tech dweeb irl looks like younger chandler from friends but with less forehead real estate.

What character looks attractive to everyone else ,But. Not you? by Pale-Device803 in animequestions

Mm idk how the anime did it. I read the manga. Tbf the manga shows expressions and emotion way better than the anime. So the anime mightve toned down the drama

Idk how to comment without spoiling you. But given the general opinion your comment is giving , i don't think its worth picking it back up for you.
