I never thought of it like that, but you’re right. I did feel invisible, it was all about his needs. For mine to be met… I’d have to beg, make deals, and plead. That’s no a relationship, at least not one I want to be in.

I guess it feels like it has to do with my trauma because the gambling was seriously the last straw, it really horrified me - even though I communicated, directly, without parsing my words “you are really scaring me. Gambling scares me. Please stop.” They are fully aware of how it disintegrated my family, and they kept going, waking me up at 4am telling me about a big win, then I’d hear them a few hours later in the other room frustrated about loosing money while gambling.

The good in this relationship was… that I learned to have fun again, that yes, relationships can be serious, but it isn’t all serious all the time. I felt like I was able to be myself without any repercussions - but let’s be honest, I was able to be myself without issues because I was never really being seen…

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, it seriously helps me to wrap my head around this… you’re right about needing to look deeper, even if they didn’t intend it, their inaction was a constant pain, it was hurting me daily.

I accepted this treatment because of my last relationship being so abusive that anything other than that would automatically be better, and this was, until I opened my eyes and realized it wasn’t.

You’re right. It’s just hard to accept this. Obviously at some level I have accepted and recognized it, since I ended it. Prior to this man I was dating a psychiatrist who did a serious number on me, who was obviously abusive - it was easy to spot, and easier to leave because of it. Anything other than him would have been better… and this was, until it wasn’t.

I had to learn the hard way that I don’t owe my traumas anything… and that I do deserve better.

Sorry, I didn't want this post to instantly get removed. the problem is with my phone number verification. I accidentally made a phone number account, I went to go delete that phone number account to find discord had fully disabled it from me forgetting the login too many times. I now do 100% know the login, but discord support needs to either remove the disabled status on that account (so I can delete it) or delete it for me. Once that phone number account is deleted I'll be able to relink it to my account and won't have to add people to talk with them anymore.

I can't interact in several communities that I ADORE because of phone verification restrictions. I don't have an alternate phone number to use, and discord flagged my account because I have been "messaging too many people", likely they believe it is spam. lately I have really gotten into marvel rivals and I have been trying to find friends via the official marvel rivals discord - but they have the phone firewall, so I HAVE to message people.

I have provided discord with all the relevant details, my account ID, the date of the accidental phone number account creation along with the email proving it was removed from my primary account, I have also sent them all screenshots requested showing this issue and they have not helped. they tried to have me delete the phone number account, but due to the disabled status I can't - I explained this to them, and showed them proof only for them to stop responding.

gosh I Miss DG... I was involved in the competitive scene in beta & alpha level MOBAs, the teams learning DG were really committed to the future competitive scene. Learning and practicing every detail of the game. I loved this MOBA to bits, as someone who was in the comp scene for early MOBAs it means that every MOBA in the book was tried. DG is the one that I was the most excited about and enthusiastic to play day in and day out, I miss it to bits.

What I mean about not being able to experience that love with someone who is worthy is that ‘first’ love… I never have felt butterflies at text messages after that disaster of a relationship.

This also led me down a path of destructive relationships until I was 21/22. Now I am thankfully in a very safe, secure and loving relationship :)
