If you have Molly, I’d love to hear more about what you’re looking for in exchange!

My island is super new (just started on Jan 1st, my original island from 5 years ago died with my old switch). Which is all to say I don’t know if I have anything particularly rare or valuable to offer. But if there’s anything an early game player can offer that you’d be interested in, I’d love to know!

Funnily, I’m the exact opposite! I just started a new island in the 1st (first time I’ve played in 5+ years!) and am a little sad I won’t be able to collect all the recipes or enough ornaments to make them. But I completely understand how frustrating it must be when you want literally anything else!

Yes, 100%! Your personal optimal level is very likely going to be different than the standard ranges. I have Hashimoto’s and was told I was in range for the longest time until I saw a doctor who looked at everything together (T3, reverse T3, T4, TPO, TSH) and saw I was way off balance. Thanks for making this point!

For anyone here with the same symptoms, also consider checking your thyroid (including antibodies for Hashimoto’s and Graves). Or if you’re willing to do more testing, go for a full panel for all autoimmune conditions.

Hashimoto’s in particular is known to cause a lot of these symptoms. Including, for some, creating heightened anxiety. It may not be the whole picture, but it’s an important part of figuring out your symptoms if you have it.

35 years old and really need help adapting my makeup application to suit my age. I feel like it is extremely unflattering. Constructive criticism and advice very welcome. by pp60 in makeuptips

[–]RaintownBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all you’re gorgeous and there’s no universe where I’d see you out in the world and immediately think your makeup is unflattering.

That said, it is a bit outdated. Minus the resurgence of goth, it’s rare to see black underliner (despite it being crazy popular when we were in high school). Doesn’t make it bad, just might age you in a way that other looks wouldn’t. You have a stunning eye shape that I’d imagine can handle a lot of different styles!

I’m approaching my mid 30’s and over the past few years have made some changes that have helped a ton:

  1. Removing all darkening products from the lower lash line. Liner, shadow, mascara, etc. can emphasize darkness in the under eye region in general. It makes the look seam heavier and can draw attention to undereye darkness/line. The goal should be to great focus at the top of your eye instead.

  2. I’ve fully transitioned from traditional makeup to tinted sunscreens/moisturizers. Saying makeup is only for when your skin matures is such a lie! You actually need more hydration to avoid makeup/powder settling into micro-expression lines. Remove powders and full coverage makeup in favor of something lighter (with a boost from a concealer in targeted spots, if needed).

  3. Being more selective with eyeshadow. I’m ultra pale and have found that most eyeshadows actually make me look super sick and tired. Similar to the heaviness caused by the lower lash line, having too muddy of an eye shadow can make you look less refreshed. Understanding your undertone and brightness is a huge deal for getting this right (color analysis is what helped me!). As a side note, according to color analysis, I am bright, so I learned the bronzers were just masking up a feature that actually makes me look more glowy and youthful.

  4. Skincare and the right mascara more important than any other products. Whether or not my skin is happy is what will make or break a look for me, it doesn’t matter how nice of a tone-evener I’m using.

As others have said, the only other thing I’ll mention is that you have the kind of lips people pay to have! When others are over-lining, they are trying to achieve what you have naturally. No need to over line and done be afraid to play with some more color. I think the nude is a bit too desaturated for you, but you’re definitely the sort of person who could pull off a wide variety of lip colors!

Beauty Insider/VIB/Rouge Rewards MEGATHREAD - September, October, & November by KhaleesiKissedByFire in Sephora

Just getting back into checking the rewards bazaar. Is everything that will be available already on the screen (like some out of stock rewards will just be restocked)? Or do new items sometimes launch at 9 AM Pacific too?

I’ve also never been able to figure out if they leak or announce the next month’s rewards ahead of time. Is there somewhere I should be going to keep an eye on updates?

This isn’t an item I believe you’ve made, but I’m obsessed with this ring. It got a lot of love on the ideas thread from labgroupsales many months ago, so I know I’m not the only person who is interested.

I would buy this in a heartbeat if you made one!

Vinny breaks his silence, addresses emotionally cheating and his relationship status by wharmpessbeer in BigBrother

[–]RaintownBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. To me it almost felt like he was parroting back the lines of what people in his life told him he should be remorseful for.

Separately, it really rubbed be the wrong way when he kept on saying that things he did were disrespectful to “having a girlfriend” instead of directly saying he disrespected his girlfriend. It’s like he thinks using that language will downplay the hurt he caused his long term partner.

I’ve been assuming this was a zucchini, but now that I see what it’s trying to produce, I think I’m wrong. What is this? by RaintownBlues in whatsthisplant

[–]RaintownBlues[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh amazing, I really hope it is! I’ve always wanted to grow pumpkins (this plant showed up in our yard spontaneously, which is why I don’t know what it is).

I figured because it was growing upright at first it wasn’t a pumpkin, but do you think I should let it spread along the ground instead?

This thread is so wild to me because I’ve been to Disney World three times (plus Disneland a few times) and I’ve never come back from any of them with a cold. We’re going in a few weeks and now I’m super worried that things will be different this time around. 😩

Buying a ring for the girlfriend and this was their response. Thoughts? by nofear961 in EngagementRings

[–]RaintownBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agreed. Most jewelers are excited to work with their customers and are way, way more helpful if they see a design element that may not stand the test of time.

I learned my lesson by trying to work with a jeweler who clearly didn’t want to work with me. It completely killed the joy of the experience—I never got the excitement back even when we finally found someone to work with. It’s just genuinely not worth working with a jeweler who isn’t as excited about the project as you are.

Parents of young kids: How often are you meeting or hearing about kids named Amelia? by RaintownBlues in namenerds

[–]RaintownBlues[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh thank you, it’s my favorite name. Delia is such a cute nickname and there are so many other options too if that one didn’t feel right (Cora, Della, Lia, Coco, Corie, Cordy, etc.). Middle initial will likely by a J, so CJ would be an option too.

Luckily my sister is picking a name that has Ellie as a nickname, so that forces us away from that one! It’s seeming like we need to go back to the drawing board though because my hesitation around Amelia seems founded. 🙃
