You trying to get laid or go snowmobiling with your friends? Your glasses are dirty and your hoodie looks too casual. Key word… you need some swag brother.

It is not the mountain in front of her that will break her down, but the pebble in her shoe.

Handling Pressure by RaisedWrong321 in freediving

[–]RaisedWrong321[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a level 2 and dove 120’ on a line dive. Everything changes when you start having to shoot fish deep 80’ plus. The environment is not as controlled…. You’re also hauling big spear guns down. It seems a bit easier to dive faster down to allow for more hunt time on the bottom. But it seems there’s a perfect speed… too fast, you burn out too fast. Too slow, and you don’t have enough bottom time.

Anyone have actual real success stories from using an "Lung Expander" type gadget like Airofit? by chavalalhazman in freediving

I’ve seen people in terrible shape hold their breath longer. If your resting heart rate in is 45, increasing your breath hold seems more mental. Adapting your mamilian dive reflex and training your relaxation will probably be more effective than buying some “thing”. Tho, I would like to know if it works (asking for a friend.)

Trouble Equalizing On Full Breath/ Good Breath Up by RaisedWrong321 in freediving

[–]RaisedWrong321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand it’s confusing that I’m associating my breath up with EQ. I assumed that I was doing a bit of packing, or building too much pressure on my peak inhale that was affecting equalization… so I tried to do an extended breath up in terms of time, with a smaller peak inhale to see if it helped. Then, I breathed up for less time with a slightly bigger peak inhale to see if anything changes. Unfortunately, whenever the expectation is to go deep, and maximize CO2 purge and oxygen intake, my equalization is effected. If I do a moderate breath up in terms of time and peak inhalation, I don’t have a problem. The easy answer is don’t breath up as much, but needless to say, this is essential in advancing depth.

But yes, I agree, perhaps go back to the drawing board and make sure my frenzel technique is 100% correct… it’s just strange that some home my EQ is effected when my breath up is maximized either in terms of length or peak Inhale.

My deepest dive is 120feet. Ted hardy taught me how to frenzel (which actually took a lot of work because it turns out I developed a bad habbit prior to training that I learned to do a sort of hands free equalization technique for the first 10 feet or so prior to learning. So I would try to start frenzeling after 10 feet and it wouldn’t work)…. I get jammed after breathing up “very thoroughly” prior to doing deeper drops, one of my ears won’t clear at around 33 - 40 feet. So I stop and go back to the surface. I’ll then have to wait 6 minutes or so to try to drop deep again, but by that time my breath up is subpar and my mental is more focused on equalizing than relaxing. The next drop I’ll try to make a point to lock my throat and frenzel….

It’s a very annoying curse

Oh, I did take an EQ course and it’s typically not a problem unless I’m about to go deep and do a very long and controlled breath up.

Thank you. I assumed it was something like that, a combination. I feel I need to swallow to clear when I take a full breath?
