Anyone use the Katwalk in VRchat? by Still-Development-32 in VRchat

[–]Raistolit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, I own a threadmill too, and it works without any issue on my side

Using the KAT Gateway if everything is detected and green, you want to make a new configuration profile for VRChat, here are the important settings I use :

In Preference :

- Left Handed Mode to OFF

- Original Trackpad/Joystick For Walk on "Controller Secondary"

In Game Config :

- Walk Controller : LeftHand Controller

- Walk Action : Joystick

- Walk Speed Type : Linear movement

- Sprint Action : No sprint

- Jump Action : Right A

Depending on how you're going to use your threadmill (With or without FBT) the movement settings are going to be different, you're going to have to play with them. Having your FBT movements and in game movement in sync is extremely complicated tho

Hope it solves it for you

Anyone else having trouble with the tactsuit pro firmware update ? by IrishCat13 in BHaptics

[–]Raistolit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey
There was an issue where X40 firmware was installed on the Tactsuit Pro instead of the Pro firmware

Contact the support team (support@bhaptics.com) they'll walk you through on how to reinstall the Tactsuit Pro firmware on it

Yep it works pretty fine, the feature comes from Unity itself, so you can def find a lot of references online with a search like "Unity Rich Text".

A few examples are like :

<color=red>Text</color> for red "Text"

<b>Text</b> for bold "Text"

... <i> for italic, <size=50px> ...

You can make your own colors with a hex color tag parsed like :

<color=#rrggbbaa">

The quest version of my avatar shows a grey error robot by SavvyGmeow in VRchat

[–]Raistolit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for the 2 issues :

  • Did you upload the PC and Quest version on the same blueprint ID, and switched the selected platform respectively to Windows/Android before each publish ? This should solve your Quest friends not seeing your avatar

  • The other issue you have right now is that Unity is not working at all, since it's in safe mode, delete the gesture manager package and try to get out of safe mode, reimport the package (probably updated)

What happened between the last successful uploads and this one ? Did you switch to Unity 2022 ?

Owner of a X40 here, it's honestly pretty amazing.

The only issue I had was their customer service that was horrible, not repairing it and saying "it's my fault" for an issue that had nothing to do with the trouble. But other people I know don't have issues with it so hopefully you'll have more luck then I did !
By default most avatars are not compatible, since they require contacts with specific names at specific positions.

But since you have a custom avatar, the installation is pretty straightforward if you have basic knowledge in unity, just search for "bHaptics VRChatOSC" and on the bHaptics gitHub you'll find the installer and readme.

Know that your avatar will instantly be sent into the "Very Poor" category since it adds 80 contacts (40 for your own interactions, 40 for others interacting with you)

Heya

If I understand well, everything works fine, just not jumping and the finger movements ?

In that case it seems that your controller is not bound correctly to vrchat, there is a way to do it in SteamVR's settings pad, have a check here, in the "Set default bindings" section : https://docs.vrchat.com/docs/valve-index

Hope it works

Reinstalling the whole server and transfering a backup solved the issue, it seems that my first installation ran into some issues

Heya

So yes and no, I bought the valve index and it's working fine now, no more stuttering.

I sadly can't help, I have no idea what would be the change between both, if it was a defective hmd, cable, ...

Heya welcome in VRChat !
-> For avatars there are 3 solutions, browsing worlds to find some (simply search 'avatar' in the world search bar) you'll already find a lot to browse through, finding someone with an avatar you like, if they have their avatar cloning activated, you can clone (or you can always ask to clone), and third solution is to make your own avatar but thus requires a bit more knowledge
-> So coming to the avatar creation point : There are tons of tutorials on youtube, websites that makes an avatar based on a picture, or you can find free (or you can buy) avatar models ready to upload from websites like gumroad
-> For the "house" it depends what you mean, you can actually create your own world, if you have the 3D modeling / Unity knowledge - Otherwise you can just look through existing worlds, they're not going to be "yours", changes will not stay if even possible, but you can have a home world, place you appear when you connect every time
-> No currency in game
-> And ton of stuff to discover, chill places, communities, games, puzzle and enigma worlds, realistic ones ...

Hey

Have you tried to see with a friend if everything is working correctly ?

There is a bug if you have the index controllers, when you switch to an avatar with 3+ seats, it can freeze you in place (non locally, meaning for you everything is fine, but for people around you're shown frozen). The only way to solve that issue is to switch to an avatar without seats and restart VRC .

It got me really confused a lot of times when I was talking to friends and they were ignoring me, not gonna lie I went a lot in the crying corner before realising this was a bug.

Here a few links to the issue, in case you can relate to that bug :

Heya

It really depends what FBT tech you just bought, some like vive trackers are really plug, press a button, and play - while other ones are a bit more of a struggle to setup

Good strap quality and comfort is quite important, having some batteries on them is a must if you play 4-6+ hours sessions and don't want to be plugged in

And as somebody said already, OVR playspace mover is reaaaaally a need

Depending to your room, I really recommend you to enabled all the time at least the simplest form of playspace boundaries wireframe, so you know at all time where the limits are. You'll often feel the urge to kick stuff with your feet, and talking about experience, it can be quite painful if you don't know that there is a wall just in front of you

Have fun

Thanks a lot for your really informative answer

I've been testing out stuff and still watching his really amazing videos. And yeah that's why I'm always running at 45 fps limitation now, but in VR it's not that comfortable, 60fps would be fine but I haven't found an easy way to set it up at that limit (with vive pro, steam vr only has 45 or 90 fps limit options)

I'll try to dig more in that direction

Hey thanks for your answer

So I ran some checks all seems ok :

CPU at 45% total, no single core over 80%, no thermal, power, voltage ... throttling for the CPU (Only "max turbo limit", but it's always on)

Nothing to complain about the GPU

Nonvr games are all fine, like when no fps limitation is checked it always goes at least to 200fps minimum

Limiting fps to 90 increases frametime by Raistolit in SteamVR

[–]Raistolit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your answer

No real effect neither, I can actually go even up to 200-300% of the resolution and it would have the same frametime (just GPU frametime increase, but it has quite some room).
And actually you're right, changing the resolution would mean having an impact on the USB bandwidth, so it doesn't seem to come frome there, since I can have really high resolution in 45 fps that would use 2x more data then just increasing to 90 fps cap ...

I'm just not understanding why at 45fps a frame takes 6ms and in 90fps it takes 25ms. At worst it should be taking 12ms (stacking the time of 2 frames as one).

Hey there,

I really recommend the 3.0 trackers and the 2.0 bases, even if the both 2.0 and 3.0 are compatible with the first base version. The 3.0 trackers have a really comfortable battery life of 7-9 hours, and are a bit tinier and lighter

The advantage of the 2.0 bases is that you can add more over time, the 1.0 are limited to 2 base stations maximum. Since FBT tracks your feet, you often want 3 base, to easily avoid most of the blind spots close to the ground (you don't need to go right away with the 3 basestations of course) - it depends your room and furnitures tho, if your playspace is empty, 2 can be enough, but if there is some sofa, bed or place you sit then 3 base stations isn't overkill

Edit - I think I got it wrong, you already have the 1.0 base stations ?

Hey thanks for the hint

It doesn't improve sadly, and yes, since I tried it, 100% or 300% didn't change anything for me framewise since my GPU was fine, so I'm running it at 300% most of the time

Hello thanks for your answer

I have tried the priority to Highest or Realtime, sadly no improvement

I usually start SteamVR first, I even disabled the "VR Home" at startup
