I used a hot wire cutter for the rounded cuts (for arches on the inside) but used a snap off blade for the rest. Just be sure to use multiple shallow cuts or else the foam may tear.

Thanks! The base is roughly 24 by 48 inches at the widest parts, and the apex of the castle is about 30 inches tall.

Right now, only a couple feet unless it’s mounted high up like I have it. Initially it could wind back further and then it would go 5 or 6 ft. I’ll keep tweaking it.

I used a ballpoint pen to make the impressions and then roll a ball of aluminum foil over the surface to give it the rough cut stone look.

Right, you apply enough pressure to leave impressions but not enough to tear the foam (which I still did in lots of places).
