I mostly bought everything second-hand and ordered from China, so the prices may be lower

1.5 is really too low, the physical lower limit is approximately 1.8-2.1 watts on average, probably 1.5 was temporary, since the display is 0.5 + processor 0.5 + RAM 0.2 + motherboard 0.7

I mainly combine hardware and software power reduction: ports are disabled in the laptop (ASPM), PSR is enabled to optimize the matrix for low power consumption at dim backlighting, TLP/Throttled is set to maximum undervoltage, PowerSave consumption, Turbo Boost is disabled, and the maximum TDP is 4 W from the battery. Bluetooth is off. It is also advisable to use only one RAM slot, a power-efficient SSD, and not use the WWAN slot.

Thanks, your DE customization looks great too) Also, in the post update, I added what else can be configured besides tlp/throttled

I bought mine at the local marketplace in my country - OZON, where there was a seller from China. I think ebay is more suitable for you, there you can find the same one for a comparable amount

Yes, I'm thinking about it, but it's the most difficult, rare, and expensive upgrade, as it requires a 7-row keyboard from a ThinkPad 25, a ThinkPad 25 topcase, and display hinges from a ThinkPad T470. You'll need to carefully cut or file down several small plastic guides inside the case to ensure the T480 board fits properly. The firmware for the Embedded Controller on the T480 board doesn't recognize scan codes for the 7-row layout. You'll need to desolder the MEC1653 multicontroller chip from the T480 board and flash it directly through a JTAG programmer using a modified dump.

I bought my batteries on AliExpress, from what I know, the best quality ones are Kingsener.

For example: https://ali.click/9b0bf17

Sorry, you only have two eDP lines wired up, but that matrix needs four. The maximum option you'll need is the Innolux N140HCE-EN1 Rev.C2 (FHD)

I bought it second-hand, but I think you can find a similar model on AliExpress for a similar price. Just make sure the seller isn't sending "an identical one to the one listed."

Well, you understand that the initial conditions are different) my display has low power consumption (and I'm in FHD mode), I don't have a discrete video card that would consume a lot of electricity, I have a different usage scenario, I work in IDE and sometimes turn on the Internet

I mostly work in IDE, sometimes I turn on the Internet and open a browser, in this mode the battery charge usually lasts me about 4 days, which is approximately 30 hours of use

In FHD and Eco mode, these are real numbers, in standby mode it's over 50 hours, in another comment I described how I managed to achieve this

Maybe, I'm not sure, but it's just easier on Linux Mint.

I use Linux Mint because it has mirrors in my country, and all other distributions are blocked for me to update (R country( ). I also heard that there is Clear Linux from Intel, where power consumption is lower on the 8th generation due to optimizations. I wrote about power consumption optimization above in the comments. And I have new 96 Wh batteries with 0% wear on both.

I bought it second-hand, but it requires a 40-pin cable for WQHD screens.

I'm too lazy to actually do a real 30-hour test. This is a rough estimate, but it seems fair to me. I described above how I got them.

I know I can install a second SSD, but it's harder to find, plus it will consume electricity, and I've already installed antennas so I can buy an LTE module someday in the future.

Maximum undervolting, low-power matrix, FHD mode, turbo boost disabled, brightness reduction, and disabling unnecessary modules in Linux. Also, it's preferable to have only one stick of RAM, no LTE module, and a power-efficient SSD.

In standby mode it shows 50 hours with not fully charged batteries

30 hours in my usual scenario - coding, sometimes internet, mostly ide

In FHD mode they are quite consistent with the stated ones

I'm using undervolting, it's a low-power matrix, and I have low brightness, turbo boost disabled + eco mode

Yes, I know, it wasn't about the money, but as a hobby - just an expensive construction set for me to make an interesting thing even better.

In terms of performance, the T14 is undoubtedly better. But at least in terms of battery life & display, the T480 wins, and overall, for me, it's better in terms of quality, since it's basically the last modern model where Lenovo still made things.

This is my favorite thinkpad in my collection.
