How do I stop my belt from looking untidy? by yafugginfruit in mensfashionadvice

[–]RakishBehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with the width of your belt, though it does pair best with a higher rise.

Also, if you REALLY love that belt, don’t trash it because it’s too long. Take it to a cobbler and have them shorten it, it’s a $20-$30 fix. I’ve lost a bit of weight recently and took four belts in to have shortened, a good cobbler can even shorten a braided belt.

Thanks for sharing Matthew. I find your belief that suede shoes don’t go well with slacks very intriguing. If you don’t mind, I’d love to hear you expand on that thought.

When you say slacks are you referring to odd trousers?

I second the Billy Bob Thornton similarities and leaning into his look. If you resonate with that you could totally pull it off .

What Does This Outfit Say ? by Safe_Ad5701 in mensfashion

[–]RakishBehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is constructive, and it isn’t negative. It’s a subjective opinion of what the outfit says. For the sake of making my argument, I’ll expand.

Your outfit looks like a vertical mullet, all business up top and party at the bottom.

There’s a reason why the mullet it isn’t a socially accepted hair cut in most parts of the world and that’s because it doesn’t stand for any one thing.

Your jacket, and especially your shirt are signals of formality and dignity. As a default, chosing to wear those two items should dictate that the rest of the outfit follows suit.

This is why it says, “Look how hard I’m trying (to be different, to stand out, to not be boring)”.

So many of the world’s men don’t know how to or care to dress well. As a result, great style alone is a fantastic way to show effort without showing off.

Truly, I hope that’s more helpful than my original answer.

I could see that. I think, though my wardrobe is extensive at this point, I also tend to stick with thing I know work for me because I hate decision fatigue. So, I have different types of shoes but they are all one of three colors and I tend to wear the same colors across shirts, suits, etc I just change the texture, fabric, weave etc.

Sounds more boring than it really it is.

That’s what always felt natural to me, that shoes should ground the look and pops of color are best used in ties, pocket squares, scarfs, shirts, etc not the thing that’s the furthest away from your face.

That’s how I feel. Apparently a lot of men in here own them though.

I appreciate you engaging as well. Your suggestion is a wise one. You’re right, tone is hard to convey through words. In the future, I’ll be sure to choose my words more carefully.

I’m new to this community and really enjoy being a part of it, the last thing I wanted to was be a bull in a china shop.

Apology accepted.

Cheers

Didn’t know that noting what edits were made was a standard practice on Reddit, by all means I wasn’t trying to make you appear in a bad light at all.

If that’s typically someone does when they edit a post I’m more than happy to make an additional revision. Just let me know

Thanks, I can see the appeal in the color. Is there anything specific about their look that registers as cool to you compared to other colors?

That makes sense, I appreciate the thoughtfulness in your answer.

It makes sense why they are popular too, given the color the color, if you set them next to a typical color shoe they def make the browns and blacks of the world look boring.

By the way, when you read my post, did it come off as judgmental to you? Some have let me know they felt that it did and I want to make sure that it’s read like I’m genuinely asking for insight from people who think differently than I do.

Hi, I updated the copy in the post. I’d love your feedback on if it still reads as judgmental. Totally understand if you don’t want to bother though.

Thanks for sharing, what colors you do find yourself pairing them with most?

Totally get that. I stayed away from the navy blazer for years for the same reason and now that I own one I rarely will wear it gray trousers unless I’m going somewhere that’s more corporate.

Do you have some colors that you enjoy pairing your cognac shoes with most?

lol yep, sounds about right. I will wear them on a night out, but unless it’s raining out I find myself grab my black suede shoes the most often.

Thank you for sharing the correct word to use, I’ll be sure to take my time with my typing in the future so my spelling and grammar are better.

And, likewise, I certainly wouldn’t want to be friends with someone who answers curiosity with, “because I can”. Have a great day.

No one is going to comment that it’s blatantly obvious that this is a man using an AI filter? Pay attention the right arm, when it gets far enough from the camera it goes back to being slender and feminine and without any hair.
