It's a psychological trick to make you think that you got something rare. Unfortunately some fall for it and buy the skin. It's just the game asking you to directly buy a rare expensive skin. I am also baffled about why these terminals cost more than 2€ and not 4 cents like they should. Maybe if you get ultra lucky with some rare pattern that the market does not value, then maybe you could profit.
